I'm curious about..

What benefit did you like vs Ecmlink?

Was the harness worth it and install time?

Ignition = Denso COP, Haltech Coils, GTR Cop etc?

Can it control auto trans shifting for us and delete the TCU?

What's the difference for us jumping to either Haltech 1000 or 1500?

If curious, I'm a long time DSM owner, daily driving making around 550hp at 28psi and new engine will be 650hp so I'm planning ahead now. I'm getting tired of the ignition issues, spark blow out at 7k plus etc so I'm looking to cure some of that too.

Thanks

I do not use haltech on my dsm.. link has been fine for me. Spark blowout at 650 is usually gap or wrong heat range. These ignitions can handle alot before needing an upgrade. 800 plus

I do use haltech on my 350z. It has a lot more safety parameters and the ability to control spark dwell is nice. Tuning is pretty easy with it. And no it wont replace your tcu on a dsm... you will need a forced four shift box(which is also worth it). You can also use their dash if you dont want the stock one.

All in all for the price of haltech and harness on a dsm.... Its not worth it. Unless money is no object.. then id look at fueltech instead

Sorry. Thought you deserved an answer after 20 plus days

I looked and looked and researched and researched before buying a standalone unit, Link Ecu was the way to go for me, I suggest you look into them also before making a decision, I am fairly certain that I could use my Link Ecu to control the shift solenoids in a transmission if I needed to, depending on the unit from them that you buy, the plug and play ones seem to have a decent amount of outputs, some have more, some have less, but bang for buck and support wise they were the hands down winner for me.

Link ecu is pretty nice and full of features. Interface is similar to haltech from my brief experience.

Tcu I still stand by forced four... its alreafy set up to run correctly with minimal wiring(headaches). Although I would love to see if link ecu could pull this off.

Seeing as I have total control of all outputs and can ground any of them with any parameters that I set, I am sure that I can control an automatic transmission with it, finding enough unused outputs would be the only problem that I can think of, which for most basic guys shouldn't be a big issue with the right model.

How easy is it to control signal parameters? Correct tcu spoofing would need to account for various rpms, tps percentages as well mph. Going full race would be easier as you would just use rpm parameter.

The nerd in me is curious now.

Fueltechs look slick. Why'd you go with Haltech on the Z over one of these?

All fairly straight forward once you are used to using it, download the software and check it out.

I got a killer deal on the car. It came with a flashed tune(uprev), procharger, rays wheels and the haltech was never installed but part of the deal. Basically I got 10k worth of parts and the car for only 3k... had a bit of work to do(guy didnt vent crank case and blew crank seal) but well worth it. Now shes a purring fun 425 rwhp machine.

Next project car I buy gets fuel tech... or maybe someday the dsm will have it depending on where i go with the car down the road.

Im going to check out the link ecu software now for fun. Really thats the only one i havent got to mess with for tuning

Got the Haltech 2500, IGN1a coils, OHM 1G engine harness and starting with the Aaron G auto trans software in the Hal.
Frame off restoration and 2.2L engine build is slowly coming along, luckily there's 3 guys that can tune a Haltech that I found, 1 being a remote tuner named Shawn Christenson, 2 in the IL area like Devin at Boostin and the guys at R&D (John Drew).
