The ring in the picture was in the box that my wastegate came in. I believe I have it in the right spot but it is a tight fit. Do I hammer it in until it is flush with the rest of the wastegate? It is not flush right now.

That is the wastegate's valve seat. It should fit in there flat against the bottom of the valve face and flush with the flange. It is a replacable piece (I assume that's a Tial38?). Check ExtremePSI for replacement if it's warped/damaged :dsm:

hrm, mine isn't quite flush, I thought that ring stuck out a bit but I guess not from what you're saying. It should be totally flush with the flange?

I'm assuming I would need to take my wastegate apart to get it flush?

Its not supposed to sit completly flush. Its like that to create a compressed seal. I had leaks like crazy when I used gaskets on it...once took the gasket out I didnt have one leak ever.

I would sugguest to not use a gasket.

Edit - Mine was new out of the box like this.
