ok, i guess i can call this "venting" out my problems. here it goes, i recently bought a 1997 GST and damn happy about it. it is my first turbo car and i love the 2g body style. The owner kinda scrwed me on a lot of things about the car. I checked the VIN of the car before buying it and all looked ok...hmmm, i got it from pensylvania and had to drive it to louisiana. The owner told me that it has a new engine and turbo (16G) and everything else is in excellent shape. Heres next, while driving it, the 5th gear wont stay in there, it'll pop out of gear and all, then a scraping sound coming from the tranny cover appeared. turned out the nut that holds the whatever to the shaft inside the tranny came loose. next i noticed that i wasnt building any boost at all!! so whe i finally got back i got it checked and yup, there was no gasket in between the turbo and manifold!! exhaust was leaking everywhere!! next...CRANK WALK, i noticed all the signs and yup, CW! got all forged internals put in there and machined block, everything top of the line parts. but the shop who assembled my engine and put it in the car were morons and managed to #### up the timing and bent 8 valves, they paid for the repair. then for some odd weird way, while getting my car washed through the autopmatic carwash thingys, i heard a loud pop by the drivers wheel well, after the carwsh i noticed that the lights were dim and i had no power steering! the accesory belts all came lose! got that shit taken care of, now the damn car puts out a CEL, i got that checked out and turns out a bad 2nd 02 sensor(after caT) this whole thing with owning a DSM is already burning me and burning all my money, i love it but i hate to drive it sometimes realizing that something will happen.

I hate to say it dude but i think the guy that sold you the car might have known all this was coming. Thus the reason for selling the car.
Dont' get discouraged, not all of them are this big of a problem. Unfortunatly you had to be a first timer that got screwed(thats what it sounds like anyways.).
I've been in the same situation before. I sold a trail bike i had and had 2 grand to spend on a mx bike. WELL, the guy i bought this new Motocross bike from stole the bike, rode the shit out of it, then sold it to me before the crank bearing went out. So i had no way of checking if it was stolen or not. He gave me a reciept(no title, should have known). I rode it for a month or so then some deuschbag from my house rode it while i was gone an it siezed on him. It's not like i could just split the cases to see if the bike was ok. So i bought it, it broke, then someone stole it from me(SIEZED)...thats eventually how i found out about all this.
I hope all that made sense.
There are some pretty shitty people out there.

Shit i bought my dsm in new port news virginia and i live in lawrence kansas. Drove the whole way to go pick it up. Towed it back here, the thing drove ok for about a month and then took a shit on me. I ended up rebuilding it myself and have been working out little things here and there for the last year. Finally now it is running somewhat well. What i've learned from my first dsm purchase is that you need to got look at the car you are buying first. Find out as much info on the car before you buy the damn thing and actually know a little bit about dsm's. But from the experience i now know more then i ever would have about the damn cars. Even after all of the crap i've been through with the car, i'm never going to get rid of it and i'm sure i'll keep buying more of them. You'll learn to love them. Good luck and don't give up on it yet.
