I have a 1999 ecu and was looking into getting dsmlink but found out my ecu is non-eprom and cant be converted. I have done a lot of searching and found out my ecu can be flashed but personally do not feel comfortable with that option. Also found out that ecmtuning can now convert the 1997 ecu to eprom. Also read that some 1995 ecu were eprom. So now to my main question i read swapping a 1995 you have to switch the coil 1 and 4 with the 2/3 and then have link run an inverted cas. First is this correct and is there anything else when doing the swap. Also can i swap a 1997 in with no problem at all or is there things i need to do?

Thanks any and all information or opinions are welcomed.

There us nothing else involved in the 95 ECU swap. The 97 will drop right in. The question is, if you're not comfortable tuning with ECUFlash, why are you comfortable tuning with DSMLink?

I wont be tuning my car im havng a shop do it for me the first time. I have read about people messing up their ecus from flashing. I also believe that i can learn how to tune with link easier and become more comfortable down the road as i am only 19 and this is my first dsm.

Either way you'll have enough rope to hang yourself with, but if it gets you tuning, I support it. I've never seen an instance someone actually damaged their ECU via flashing. The good part is you can sell your ECU to get some of the DSMLink money back. Good luck with whatever setup you go with.

i first used DSM link v3 without watching any tutorials or anything. I had used rom raider for a wrx. so i knew a bit bout tuning. But they make it very user friendly with ecm link

I have used both dsmlink and ecuflash and they are both great. I never had a problem with flashing my ecu. I still prefer link though since it is a little more user friendly and I think the logger is better than evo scan.
