Thinking about SMIM - does Cruise have to come out?

So my mod list doesn't really evoke "he needs a SMIM" at this stage but I have to remove my stock IM to tap for a 3-bar map as well as to correct my PCV system the right way so I go to thinking, a SMIM wouldn't be a bad idea and I've seen in my research that plenty of people use them with 16G's until the bigger dogs go in. Eventually I'd like to be up to an HX35 or 40 or an S256, something along that size and those could definitely benefit from a SMIM. So anyway, I have a pretty decent commute and would really like to keep cruise control if at all possible, but will installing a SMIM (even a JMF "street" smim) force me to remove it? That isn't a dealbreaker, I just would like to know and I couldn't find anyone who's installed a SMIM who *did* keep cruise control. Thanks in advance, Todd.

Thanks Bob, can you elaborate just a little on which style you have, street/race/drag? It sounds like the Race is the one to go for since my car will see plenty of street use. Thanks man!

On removal and install of the cruise control, you will have to remove it otherwise it gets kinda tight. At that point you may as well remove it to make the engine bay less cluttered up. But the choice is yours.

Thank you for the heads up Tim. I'm not sure at this point - when I drive it to work it's about 30 minutes of freeway driving and it's a bit of a pain to not have cruise but it's certainly not terrible without it. I do like clean engine bays...

I've got a 1g Magnus SMIM and kept my cruise. I moved it to the spot between the firewall and the passenger side strut tower to get rid of some of the clutter around the throttle body elbow. Definately worth keeping if you can.

Thanks man! I plan to tackle lowering my battery like that this weekend. Then, if I have to, I'll have the room to put my cruise (or something else) there.
