I found a '91 TSi FWD 5-speed for sale, going to go this Friday to look at it. The car has 169k miles with a rebuilt motor and tranny. The guy told me that it's completely stock, needs a new exhaust, that the stocker is bad and it's very loud (exhaust leak?). Another thing is that he said when driving it at very low RPM, when you put it into gear (couldn't really understand what he was saying), that it clumps into gears? Not sure if he's saying the synchros are bad. Is there anything that i should look for when i look at the car, besides the usual such as the turbo going (i'll end up upgrading it), smoking, leaking, and so forth?

I'd like an AWD, but seeing how much money i've got to spend, there aren't a lot of choices out there.
