thickness of tires

hi, i was wondering if the thickness of the tire (255/45/18r) take effect over bumps. For example, my tires is a 45, and whenever i go over bumps, like train tracks, or cracked bumpy road, i can feel as if my shocks are blown or something, or my shocks are taking effect. if it was thicker, say 60... would it feel different or the same?

Sure, a 60 series tire will be a lot softer over bumps than a 45 series tire of similar diameters for the same reason it will not corner as well; flex. Perhaps you need to compromise.

agreed. but I just want to know how you managed 255 size tires without rubbing on your DSM. from what I've heard, and have, 235 is the closest to go; although 245 has been used before.

as wret stated before, the higher your sidewall the softer your cornering ability will be. or perhaps maybe your shocks are just blown

Oh, you can fit them... with about 10mm offset wheels.

the smaller the middle number the harder the ride is, less rubber doesnt cushion it as much. i have 245/40/R18s on my 18x8 wheels, 45mm offset, no rubbing

the numbers i've given out was just example because i dont know what the middle number is called. thanks for the cornering advice as well, i didn't know that until now.
