Hey guys, no one really knows me here but i needed some help. i just bought a 1991 talon. with.
jdm motor /b16g
510cc injectors
255 fuel pump
act 2600 clutch
upper ic piping
2nd gen mass airflow sensor
turbo back 2.5 inch exhaust
SAFC2 and some other stuff (suspension stuff)

my a/f guage was pegged on rich when i got the car, so i let my buddy who knows "alot" about tuning, so he says play with the safc. (i would have done it myself but the car did not come with instructions for the afc and ive never used one) well anyway i let him do it last night. he said he did a good job, however we didnt drive hte car, until this morning when i get in, the check engine light pops up, then i get on the free way and hte car wont idle, it shuts off when i let the rmps go down to under 1k, it sputters past like 50. he screwed ups somewere, i dont know how to use this thing at all, the th says 82.5, after doing some reading on here htats very high i understand, i cant even get to anything else on the afc cause i dont want to mess anything up. so my question is, is there anyone in reno that would be willing to come down and help me tune my car?

Your TPS (throttle position sensor) is screwed up. It may be bad, or most likely just out of adjustment. Thats why the car is having all the problems. You could set the AFC correction all at 0 and the car would probably drive just fine. Then just tweak it from there. The TPS should read 0 with the throttle closed, and 100 with it all the way open. Its real easy to adjust. I could tune the car for you to run tits, one pump gas tune, and a race gas tune, but you'd have to pay me $50. You might be able to get someone to help you for free though.
 
zero it out until u have something a bit more accurate then a af ratio gauge...have josh tune your car!

and if ya need parts i have a ton...every sensor on the motor pretty much...
 
I have some things for sale if anyone is interested. I dont have room for things like this anymore.

1g 6 bolt block and crank $50
Hood off a 90 or 91 (white) $10
1990 cylinder head (needs rebuild) $20
1g wheels (I think I have three left) $10 each
HKS VPC with 550 chip, harness and EVERYTHING to hook it up $400.

RX7 stuff
know anyone with an rx7? I have two transmissions $50 each.

ill gladly pay you $50 to show me what the hell to do, im so lost right now its not even funny. i got the car to idle at 1k fine, but it showing its idling at like 460??? and it says the throttle is at 100 when idling but drops down when i gas it. so the car is drivable but now it wont boost more than 6 psi in first, then 15 in the rest of the gears. I really dont want to move the car very far, and i live in golden valley, so if we can work something out that would be great. give me a call my phone number is 342-8008

oh and i got the check engine light off also, and the knock count is at 72, so not sure what that means, but guessing its not good?
 
Knock count should always be ZERO. You should never feel its ok to tune for "very little" knock. Its either no knock (no damage), or knocking (damage). Sounds like whoever set up the AFC set it up ALL wrong. Sorry to hear that. I will call you later tonight to set up a time to meet.
 
Well #### everything thats got to do with my Motor! Lady said it was in Reno last friday, now it's going to a customer in Springfield Missouri.... Sueing them... :nono: Then the mechanic workin on my car says he can rebuild my old motor.. Well great ####ing deal when he was charging me 180 to get it back from the motor shop saying they cant rebuild it. That's why we went with another shop to get a motor in the first place. :mad: I'm so sick of this shit it's not even funny.

ok cool, i dont get off untill 9 tonight, so if you want to do it htne, that would be great, but if its too late thats cool, we can work something out.

You could buy my 6 bolt block and crank and slap your head on it. Then you would have a stout 6 bolt bottom end for that thing. I even have 6 bolt rods and pistons if you were really interested.

I ORDERED THE PARTS THEY ARE ALL PAID FOR SO NOW I'M JUST WATING ON UPS TO GET THEIR ASSES IN GEAR AND GET THEM TO ME. SO I HOPE WITHIN THE WEEK I CAN ATLEAST GET IT RUNNING. :talon:

I WAN'T TO SEE THOSE PIC'S IF YOU GOT THEM. I THINK AS SOON AS I GET ALL THESE PARTS IN MY TALON AND GET IT RUNNING HALFWAY DESCENT I'M GONNA START ON THE DATSUN PROJECT. :talon:
