On the fluid I now swear by redline mt-85 I flushed my tranny when I got it put in the best shop brand and still had issues did a swap this month and it's like a different car. I'm a gst not x don't know if it's the same.. And for oil I have always used mobile 1 and I have no complaints on it many people try different things and have a million recommendations but my only one is never cheap-0 out with this car it maybe money hungry but I have discovered with mine it's not a (forgive me for speaking the name) HOnda that will take any random crap you put in it and putt around.

Redline mt85 is amazing. 138k original miles on tranny. Redline was always used in it. Still shifts like a hot knife through butter

Looks like a good list. Maybe do a leakdown/compression test before pulling the motor, just in case. This would also be a good time to delete the balance shafts if you wanted to do that.

Redline mt85 it is then, thanks!

Gieri, Thanks for the info on the leak-down/compression tests, I will do that..and I planned on the BSE for sure, especially since it is cheaper to do it vs buy the components to replace the balance shaft's parts.

Looking around my engine bay a lot of the bolts are rusted, anyone aware of a kit to replace most of the hardware? I know you can get SS valve cover bolts, but I am looking for almost all of the others as well...

No worries! and I gotta say, your car is clean! Pretty jealous since my paint is showing it's age...

Alright, got the battery in and she started over an idles fine...sounds like a lifter is ticking but I think that might be from it sitting for almost 4 months and the oil looks pretty old...so hopefully when I get the oil changed that will calm it down...made a video of the start up, I actually like the sound of the exhaust the original owner put on it...I will post it when I figure it out...Also got some new shocks for the rear hatch, local place had them for 30 each..beats online for 60 each...I will post more updates as I go...

Stm sells all those parts you want in one place. Best vendor for dsm/Evo.

Why do you want to go with the fluidampr?

Do you have vehicle inspections up there in bernallilo? If you are like the rest of New Mexico, maybe a downpipe and test pipe.

SaulHudson, I will definitely check out STM...and I wanted the Fluidampr because it seems to be a pretty smart move for the 2g engines especially, plus it was on sale for cheaper than I have seen so I picked one up. After reading reviews and learning more about it and it's function I thought it just made sense. I don't have vehicle inspections thankfully, and I am still looking into down/test pipes...The original owner has some things still hidden that I am finding...more updates to come

EDIT: I also plan on using a light weight flywheel and I from what I understand that can throw off the "tune" from the stock harmonic balancer vs the Fluidampr constanly "tuning" itself...

Just curious why Mt85? I was always told Mt90. Is it just for different heat ranges? This is straight from John Shep when I drove to his shop to pick up my transmission.
