haha alright, thanks very much. im going to go check it out tomorrow and hope all goes well and theres no problems that they "forgot" to mention

so I found a 93 gsx for 800 dollars, it doesnt run and the guys said it doesnt run because there is no compression because the head gasket is blown they put a new head gasket and head on, and the car kept over heating. could it just be that the water pump is going out? so pretty much how much money should i be expecting to put into it to get it running? thanks

Don't start spending money until you have found the problem.
Has the coolant been topped off? Sure there are no air bubbles in the system?
Are the fans turning on?
Have you tested the thermostat?
Start with those things first, then you can move on to the water pump. I seriously doubt that is the problem especially if they put on a new headgasket.

I have only seen pics of the car, im going to go look at it next wed. car looks great inside and out. so im thinking 800 isnt bad fo a gsx in good codition. 19Eclipse90: i will check out all the stuff u said on wed and let u know. thanks. does anyone know what could be my most expesive problem could be? i dont mind putting in 1k into it. thanks

You could make well over $800 if you parted it out right off the bat.... that price is a steal if the body is straight and the interior is nice.... provided the motor isn't completely trashed, that price is a good price. A buddy of mine loves to buy dsm's from people that are having small misc problems because it takes him one day most of the time to get the car running strong again. I'd say go for it for sure. I think the cheapest deal he ever got was on a white 91 tsi awd, he paid 300 dollars and the head was fubar'd... he had a working head at his house and had that car running like a champ that night.... FOR THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

What if they put hg on wrong and blocked cooling passages ?
I'd be surprised. It is a possibility, as well is a cracked head. But again, start with the simple things first. There is no point dishing out the dollars if you don't have to.

First thing I would do is check coolant level and bleed the system. Many amatuer mechanics don't know about bleeding the cooling system and if an air bubble is trapped in certian spots the car will overheat, very quickly too.

sounds good!!!! i cant wait to pick it up, the guy said he would go down on the price a little so it looks like im getting another eclipse, thanks for all the help, i will keep u guys posted on the car once i get it

I was having another boring day at work yesterday, when a guy with a 92 Talon TSI came in for brakes. We had some trouble finding the right ones since it was upgraded to 93+ front brakes, dual piston, and he didn't know about it. I asked him if he was selling it and he said sure. I had to post it on here because it is a pretty good deal. He gave me a paper with all the mods done to it
-evo3 big 16g with a 10 lb spring
-2nd gen mas
-Techno Motive Eprom
-Apexi SAFC2
-Apexi exhaust
-FMIC with Greddy BOV
-Manual boost controller
-Intake manifold by Forrester Racing Heads
-RC 550cc injectors
-Walbro 255lph fuel pump
-3rd revision lifters
-new master and slave cylinders
-Racing Technologies clutch
-Fidanza flywheel and gearset
-Autometer gages, air/fuel, oil pres, oil temp, boost, pyrometer
-rally art short shifter
-chrome rims with yokohama tires

The car has been lightened a bit for track use. The steel bumper cores have been removed, along with the heater core.
He is asking $3500 obo for it. I didn't think that was a bad deal with the mods it has. If he still has it when I get my next bonus, I am going to pick it up.

If anybody is interested, email or pm me and I will get you his information.

For anyone else reading, (krazy already knows), if you dont take care of a car, beat on it every day, and then blow it up, people like me (the new owner) wont pay much... even if the car is worth alot more. Now that its fixed up and has ALOT of money into it to make it better I feel the value has risen a bit...... hopefully

I just recently found a 93 AWD TSI talon. The motor jumped time and bent 2 intake valves...I checked myself to see what all happened to the top end. The transmission is freshly rebuilt with a little over 500 miles on it. It has mild body damage (fender pushed in from door, and a few scratches on the hood.) They were asking $500 for it, but easily accepted $300. I am quite mechanically inclined, so I will not have a problem fixing anything on these cars. Do you think it is worth it or do you think it will cost too much to fix?

Ok, I am just wondering what kind of costs I will be jumping into to fix it. I am a poor dude :( I already own a 93 n/t Talon and have dropped a lot of money into it. I have always dreamed of having a turbo talon. Guess it is time to start selling things. Guess my system goes first :p

Def worth it! you could sell the tranny alone for around 300, let alone all the sensors etc if you decide to part it out, For the engine, your best bet might be finding a used longblock and throuing it in, depending on wether the pistons hit the valves etc. Jump on it, get it up and running, if you cant afford it, sell you NT or flip this one and make some loot off it.

Great deal. If this was PA I would be hunting the car down haha. You are looking at making some loot if you part it out. Its got a 4 bolt rear, all axles, all sensors, interior pieces, trans, transfer case, driveshaft, alternator, powersteering pump, and anything else you could think of.

right now I am looking for a beater.
then this guy i met is selling his starion.
I don't know much about the car, except its a 2.6L turboed rwd.

if I do purchase it, what should I do to the car, since I am working on my 2g.
does 1500 sound like a good deal??

I just picked up a 1985 Eclipse GS for my, soon to be driving, son.
76,000 miles, fully loaded and well maintained.
It already has header, dual outlet stainless muffler, and some type of cold air kit on it.
It also came with a Sirius radio setup.

Was $2300 an OK deal?

Well after selling my GS-T, I am looking into getting another DSM. This time no traction BS. I found a All Stock 5-Speed '91 Eclipse GSX. The car has under 110,000 miles on it. The guy I am buying it off of Says it has a new trans in the car. The car has been sitting over a year. They said it was due to a bad ecu. There is a decent amount of rust under the car, but the interior is nice. I plan to due a compression test, take a battery, oil, coolant, and some fresh gas. I am going to try to get the car running before I buy it. Anything else I should look at? Also, I talk the guy down to $1200, Do you guys think the price is fair? Thanks

Not at all. I bought a 91 TSI AWD with an EXCELLENT body, blown motor for 300. THEN, i bought a 91 GSX that didnt' run right for 500 with a salvaged title, EXCELLENT BODY...needed a coil and has been runnin like a champ ever since.

Go looking for the deals, dont wait for them to come to you....drive neigborhoods, leave notes.
