It all depends on if you want to mod it and if so, will it be your daily driver. I am in the process of modding my Talon which I got back in December which was 100% stock. I spent close to $1000 just on maintenance and upkeep. After I finish building it into a street monster, I don't think it can be a very comfortable DD. Luckily I have a DD already and will always have one as the Talon will never be my DD.

For a year and a half I had a fairly modded STi which was my DD. Let me tell you, it gets real old after a while and you start to crave something more comfortable.

The Audi is a comfortable car. If there is any way you can keep it and get the GSX then go for it. If not and you do get the GSX and decide to start modding. I suggest you go get a used civic for a couple grand for a DD.

i bought my 1g based on the fact that i have a 98 civic to DD, let that be a guide, any car with 100,000miles+ is going to need a little work here and there, and when it comes to any turbo car iwth that many miles, its been beat

well in my opinion 9,000 for 125,000 is a little much. i love my dsm and everything but if you could get an EVO i def would go for it

Should I sell the Audi come up with a few more grand and look for a used Evo8?

Bingo.

I love my DSM to death but the fact is an EVO will provide better performance, reliability, and comfort than an 8 year old GSX could ever give you. If you have the opportunity to own one of these machines, I say go for it.

Mileage is not an indication that it's bean beat on.

Aside from that, I have a 97 GSX with about the same amount of miles on the vehicle. I, however, have a rebuilt motor. Beforehand, it had crankwalked twice, but aside from that and a master cylinder, I haven't had any other tranny/mechanical problems. (Minus the radiator which the mechanics say the neck nipple supposedly chipped off) I had a head gasket go, but I believe that to be the responsibility of the engine rebuilder, because it wasn't OEM. If you want a rare and respectable car, and very high possibility of your wallet being drained, go for the GSX. You could easily turn it into a monster with a low amount of money. The Evo is new (or fairly new, if purchased used), and will have a warranty, and not NEARLY as many upkeep problems, and is easy to work on. I honestly don't know much about the STI/Subie cars to give any feedback on them. But, like stated above, I will never sell this car, and will give ALL my savings to make sure the car is always rockin' the streets/track. Plus, the 4G63 is a proven engine, and it's leaving the Mitsu Evos. Get it while you still can! I hope this helps in your decision. :)

It really depends on what you are looking for in the car.

If you look for a reliable and fun DD I will go with a Subaru. I had two and they were the most reliable cars I have ever owned. STIs and EVOs have very similar characteristics when it comes to performance.

If you want a car you want to mod and work on a lot go with the GSX. I learned a lot about cars after I got mine. I love my GSX...most of the time ;)

I would sell the Audi. I had a 2000 A4 1.8T Quattro and I wasn't impressed. The electrical glitches started popping one after the other. This car is also built for comfort and not for performance.

No, don't sell your car for the gsx. It's not worth it. Especially if it is going to be your only car.

Ummm, save up a little bit more for an evo? The cheapest I have ever seen a decent evo was like 19000... I would keep the Audi. Nice car.

keep the audi! plus thats way to much for that high mileage. I paid 10k but my car was mint condition and only 45k miles w/ only minor mods like intake exhaust, bov, intake. I hate to say it but keep the audi bro UNLESS you can find one for that cheap but way less miles!

Well I own both A4 and GSX and while I'll probably sell my A4 long before my GSX. If I had to choose one for a DD I'd pick the Audi. I love my GSX it's just not reliable for my only car.

I love commuting in my car, its so comfortable and rides smooth as hell. But of course there are gonna be problems, i have been lucky enough not to have any and I have had my car for 6 or 7 months now and Ive been on 8 or 9 365mile trips.

Im happy. I'm getting the car. Yes the T-case is locked up but its outside the car so its FWD for right now. The car has never had any recalls, so does that mean I can get the T-case fixed for free from the dealership because the saftey recall was never made?

I already drove it. Runs nice. Not bad, for a car that needs a tune up, base timing corrected, and a boost leak test.

I just bought the car yesterday. Runs strong for stock boost. I need to check the starter today. Any tip or ideas to help take the starter off without the use of profanity? Also I got good news for the t-case. It is locked up and the recall has never been done before. Called Dodge, they told me to bring it in, so they can get it fixed. They will even put the whole driveshaft and t-case back on. Free Labor FTW

Yea, do it from the top, thats how I always do it. Jus make sure you get everything out of your way (UICP, battery, CC Controller, maybe the battery tray) Fast and easy, the only hard part is getting the B+ terminal loose after you get the starter off the tranny.

I used to have a 1g talon n/t and loved it, but had to sell because it was getting wore out with 180000miles and I was driving too many miles to college. I bought a Ford Focus ZX3 for gas mileage, and hate it. I've regreted that decision ever since. Now that I'm done with school and have been in my job for a year I want another DSM. This time I'm going AWD Turbo. I found a 94 :talon: Tsi Awd manual trans with 80000miles, compleatly stock aside from different rims, and in great shape. The only problem is that it's at a dealership and they want $4995. I know thats kinda high but it fits with the NADA book value. My questions is, should I try to get a deal and buy it, or keep looking? Somebody talk me into it :sneaky:

Is this Gst worth 5995?

Okay so I was looking on autotrader and found a 1998 Gst. Went to the dealership and the mileage on the car is 138,300. I could write a long story but who wants to read those here are the main points.

Car spooled up quick and shifted smooth through all the gears

Things I saw on first look that would need to be replaced/concerns

Passenger side headlight is fogged up

Front bumper is not in perfect condition and for some reason not lining up all the way with the hood where they meet

Good notes

Turbo looks new and replaced (Has td05h on it. Could also be bad I suppose as I don't know if it is a stock or a completely different turbo)

Has a blitz turbo timer already installed

I'm not in need of one now and can wait until a better one comes as I already have a daily driver. Should I see if they will come down or just pass on it altogether?
