2)Click This one is salvage but i guess there is nothing wrong with it, I talked to the guy and he said it runs fine.

don't be afraid of salvage cars, i've had 3 salvage cars and they all ran fight, as long as the damage wasn't huge, it's no big deal.

Neither. Wait for a better one.

Yes wait for a better one thats cheaper, I picked up my 1g AWD for 950 with 130k, running good, no accidents and no rust. :thumb:

The red one is ok but a little high price for S-title if these where your only choices go for the 98 less miles and newer year but I would look around to try and find a cheaper one. Did you look on the classifieds on this site there is some good deals.

P.S- After you get your GSX you will never want to go back to the GS or drive it.

Yeah the problem with buying one from the classifieds is that I want one thats completely stock, a 98 or 99 GSX, under 7 grand and close to where I live which is pretty hard to find. I would guess that anyone selling their car on this site that has a GSX has modded the sh*t out of it or atleast has more than bolt ons. And that price for the red one is pretty cheap. Remember it is Socal so everything is more expensive plus most GSX owners know that some people will pay good money for a stock GSX. Most 98-99 GSX's go for about 9-10 grand around here so 6.5 is a pretty good deal. But idk. Im just concerned about the auto to manual swap. That may cost more money than I would save buying the cheaper one. Ill probably swap the tranny twice if I get an auto, once when I get it to a stock GSX tranny and then another one when I do the 6bolt swap, the second will be built. Im thinking thats not worth the trouble or money.

You should easily get the manual. Manuals are so much better and faster. Plus the manual looks way better.

Forgot about the Cali thing I dont think the tranny swap would be a wise thing to do I think the 98 would be the better deal because you wouldnt have to switch the tranny out right away, did you get any info on were it was hit?

It wasnt in an accident supposedly. He says he bought it salvaged a year ago and it was salvaged due to theft. Im not too worried about it. Im going to get it checked out by a mechanic before I buy it anyways so worst case senario he is lying to me and when I get it checked the mechanic tells me its all F'ed up and I dont buy it.

PS. they are both 98's

Wrong. Technically the auto's are a bit faster (search). How do manuals look better? They both look exactly the same.

Im pretty sure he was talking about out of the two cars I linked, the manual car looks better. And a manual car is faster off the line than an equally modded auto because you can launch. That is unless you have an extremely high HP car that needs to shift at a perfect RPM. But that is not this case.

Oh didn't realize he was talking about between the two. But auto cars have brake boosting which can give equal results on a launch as a manual. Auto car's throttle plate does not close so the turbo is constantly boosting, and auto does not have to pause for shifting. Just an fyi. Anyway, the salvage one looks decent, just make sure it runs fine.

Haha. Thanks but like i said i want a stock GSX so I can do all the modding. plus im sure the "right money" would be more than I am willing to spend. Nice car though

Have you checked craigslist? I'm sure there's several gsx's up on there in your area.

Oh yeah! I always forget good ole craigs list. thanks dude ill get on that.

I swear there was a complete thread on this subject before, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Here's what I need to know - I have a friend that wants to sell me his 97 GS-T that is fairly done up (at least I think so). I am asking you guys because I know muscle, crotch rockets, and trucks, but nothing about imports This car has just over 7,000mi on the motor and about 400 mi on the tranny. He is only selling because his GF is pressuring him for a house .

Here is a list of everything he can remember that he has done. I know he is missing a few things like engine dress up components as well as vinyl on the outside (of course):

P.S: Anything with an asterisk (*) behind it isn't installed yet, but comes with the car. Don't ask, he totally forgot that he had the lsd laying around when he had the clutch done. Also, pardon me if the spelling isn't correct on some of these brands. To me, with the exception of some dumb stuff like green back-up lights, I really like the car. I personally think this car is worth it because we added up all of his receipts and it totalled around $30k.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To the admins: sorry, I just found the what's this car worth thread. Could you please move it there. Once again, my apologies.

Too much. The shortblock sounds nice, but that's about it. All that and still on a t25???

yea, still on a stock turbo. Don't ask why, he didn't quite have priorities right. I have actually talked him down to 11,000 but I forgot to post that. That is as low as he is willing to go.

For $11K, you should be able to find a nice reliable built awd. There are also some things that stick out on that list that I would be wary of like that lsd and the "show" pieces like the lights and stuff.

why would you be wary? Just asking ### i'm new at the tuner scene. I just know that I want an eclipse due to the fact that I'm a Mopar guy and they teamed up with Mitsubishi on the eclipses for awhile.

I personally would not pay 11K for a 97 Eclipse, even with the listed mods, but that's me.

It's a sad state of affairs that you will rarely get back even close to what you put into a car. However, with that said, I'm sure someone is willing to pay that much if they want it bad enough.

You'll just have to "make the call" as to whether it's worth it to YOU.

(Dealer retail on a 1997 Eclipse GS-T in immaculate condition, fully loaded = $7,200)

I would strongly suggest you take it to a mechanic you trust that knows these cars to look it over before you decide to buy it (if you do).
