A modded Eclipse seems to attract a very narrow audience. I recently had mine up for sale and was offered between 9,000 and 12,000 for it and the car literally needs nothing, has a perfectly straight body, amazing paint, clean CarFax and is daily driveable. I did get one offer at 13,500, which I thought was very good for 20K invested, but of course the kids who want these cars bug out when they find out what the payment will be.
I don't know what yours is worth, but the more work done, the less you'll get. Don't even bother with ebay, but you might have some success with Autotrader. Start at 14,000 and see what happens, but I guarantee you'll be absolutely insulted by some of the offers. People today want something for nothing and they're not shy about it. What sucks about these cars is that when people see a gem, they still want to buy it for dirt. Take a look at the percentage of truly clean Eclipses out there and you'll see what I mean. The problem is that the average age of the DSM owner is getting younger and most young people don't have the money to spend, hence the lowballing.
Your predicament reminds me somewhat of mine. I want to add more, but the funds just aren't there at the moment to do so. You have a choice, you can either wait it out, save your pennies and take the next step in modding the car, or make a conscious decision to enjoy what you've done and respect the car for what it is. The other avenue is to sell it and take a bath on all of your hard work. I decided to keep mine and I'll invest more in it to get it where I want. I certainly wish you luck in selling yours.
