yah hard to tell the mileage on a junkyard pull.

I would NOT buy it for 2K I already know that. I would offer between 1500-1700. Just worried I'll have to fix something really expensive right away. How much (anyone experienced in this area?) is a rebuild of the tranny/transfer case?

thanks

i know what you are talking about im going to have to dump some money into my head now since something broke.

went through emissions last month and passed just fine (showed me the slip) that should mean the engine is in pretty good working order then aye? No smoke/smog is a good thing :) Thx

That's bullshit, the only reason they break down week after week is probably because you beat on yours week after week. If you take care of your ride and keep up the maintanance then it will take care of you in return, if you beat it to hell then it will be a piece of crap. All my friends and i have dsm's and they're our weekend warriors and daily drivers. I actually did have a honda once and it gave me more problems in a week than my talon ever did. My friend has a civic hatchback that was suppose to be his daily driver but it just sits on his driveway because it wont start, and this is after he spent 500 dollars on a tune up trying to figure out the problem. So long story short, no car is unreliable as long you take care of it.

Ok well now you who doesnt know me is going to have the nerve to tell me i dont know how to treat my car... if you honestly think your car is "reliable" then it must be stock... ask anyone i gurantee 3 out of people will tell you that a dsm isnt reliable... I love my car to death and have had problems with it in the past and have also had problems with my 2 before that... but im not a coward and will not run away from something that has just a few problems... im on number 3 and looking for number four right now... and every car i have owned got sold in running condition... so i must be doing something right... basically dude there unreliable cars for the most part but hey maybe u got lucky and got a good one who knows.... i dont know your situation and im not going to sit here and critisize you or your knowledge of your car because i dont know you... so i dont expect some prick to tell me i dont know how to treat my car... thanks buddy :)

Also i see you live pretty close to me in Illinois... glendale heights isnt to far from here at all send me a message if you wanna bring your shitbox out some weekend... Ill be happy to land on that shit for you :)ROFL

he said he had to get 2K, so I offered 1750 as the absolute highest Id go. He said no, so I left, he e-mailed me and is now asking for 1900.

So it pulls really well, doesn't smoke, has the one bad axle, and that same right axle made some crazy noises for a minute. Whats stranger is when he put in the clutch, it went away. We dropped it into gear, rolled her forward, and the noise went away and didn't come back....odd.

Still not worth 2K though. Thoughts on what that issue might be?

thanks

Hey Mod Im not sure where this should go move it if you need to.

I want to buy this 95 Eclipse GSX but it has a blown motor. He said that the motor blew due to Detonation. It is BONE stock can that be possible? It has about 174k. Wear and Tear on the front seats but thats all I know. Power door locks dont work. Everything else seems to be ok shape. Check out the pictures tell me what you think.

If you got the cash I would get it and inspect the engine see if its rebuildable or put new engine in it and have a possibly good running car for under 3 grand.

If it doesnt have any rust, transmission or body problems, and you are willing to rebuild the engine or swap an 6 bolt then I think its a good deal.

Thanks for everyone input. I kind of have the money laying around plus I have a 1g 6bolt motor that i could use. The only part is that the 6bolt is in my 1g Talon right now. My extra motor is at the machine shop waiting for a 2.3 build up. Im scared that i might run out of funds when i get my 2.3 ready to go. Forgot to mention i have no garage. Thats y its so hard to decide.

Thanks everyone.

I would say yes get it if you can manage it for 1200$, and once the 2.3 is dropped into the 1g take the 2.0 thats in the 1g now and drop it into the gsx. Then go from there and turn it into a yr project so that way you will have more funds coming in to fund it. The high miles on the chassis is a bit of a turn off from it though because like president said who knows what else is f'ed with it.

Looking to buy a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, 80k Miles, Auto, Never Modded, Fully Loaded, Adult driven, remote start, well maintained.

Asking $5100

What should I offer? Have $4000 in hand now. Still working on the rest.

'95 TSI AWD
160,000mi
Manual
asking $6800 (a little less, because it needs a new driver side fender)

He gave me mods list. Since it was modded, I'm going to assume that he beat on it a little, which would lower the value.
-Garrett T04B
-3" Stainless Steel Turbo Back Exhaust
-3" Intake Pipe
-Ported 2g Exhaust Manifold
-RC 550cc injectors
-K&N FIPK Air Filter
-Dejon Tool Super Side mount Intercooler
-Dejon Tool UICP
-Dejon Tool Upper S Pipe
-Road Race Engineering LICP
-1g BOV
-Apexi SAFC-II
-Digital Tuning Inc. OBDII Pocket Logger with Palm m130
-Autometer Boost Gauge
-Autometer EGT Gauge
-Hallman Pro Manual Boost Controller
-Fluidyne Aluminum Radiator
-FAL 12" Slimline Electric Fans

It also comes with the following, but they currently aren't installed
-Tanabe Sustec Lowering Springs
-99 GS-T 5 spoke wheels
-1g throttle body

I currently have a 95 tsi and just bought a 96 gst with a 3inch turbo back apexi exhaust and a greddy bov and a injen intake. The car is fully loaded with leather and it came with 17 inch konig wheel. I bought the car for only $1000 and the entire body is good the only bad thing about thecar is that it has a bad pistong ring and is burning oil.

what do you guys think this should be worth...

things replaced not too long ago:
o2 sensor

ecu

things it needs:
front driver side axle (or both) should be replaced soon. I am including 2 axles I just bought

Wow what's the catch? Only 10K on a rebuilt engine

Makes me wonder if something else is wrong...

Otherwise it's a steal IMHO.
