im lookin at a 95 talon in extremely good shape. It only has 64000 original miles, the interior is absolutely perfect with leather and power everything and the engine bay is awesome too. The only problem with the car is that it is starting to rust above the strut towers. But they are very small spots. The paint is very good, also. The car is a 5 speed, 2wd, and is mostly stock. He is asking 7000 for it. Is that too much?
 
yeah its selling for 500 its white it needs the interior put back together a new whole front end and back glass idk if its worth it, it runs and was in an accident but has been almost all the way fixed except for the front end and the back glass, what should i do?:talon:
 
Man its diffently worth it The motor and tranny is worth 500. Jump on it. I bought a 90 Laser fwd for 100 complete. No title but I wanted the motor for my 93 gsx. I sold the ecu and got my money back. I bought it soon as the paper it came in came out. You can always gain money on it or keep it for parts.

i brought it in the shop today and my god the interior is SOAKED horribly LOL i took out the nice leather seats in hope that they dry and dont smell bad and i also hope the nice power windows..ect isnt ruined by the rain

wow that isn't a really good deal, i bought my 90 gst for $330 all it needs is a new tranny. it has 102000 miles on it, recent new turbo and timing belt
 
i know i can look it up on KBB. but its very rare to find a mint dsm like mine.

was wondering if you ugys could tell me a ballpark figure of what my car is ###### worth.


99 GSX auto.
green (MINT condition, inside and out)
Absolutley no problems.

and a turbo xs boost controller set to 15lbs.
 
Depending on your area, an automatic can sell for more, but typically less. Everyone that wants a GSX, wants a stick. How many miles? If its more then 84,000, thats more then the 12,000 miles a year "average". Those mods are not going to increase the value of the car at all, depending on who is looking, it may devalue it. The best things to do is go to www.autotrader.com and search for all Eclipses in your area and see what they are goin for.
 
It's worth whatever you manage to sell it for. If it's "worth" $15,000 and no one offers you more than $12,000, then it's really worth $12,000. All anyone can do is guess at value. Totally subjective. There is no right answer.
 
Funny, there was just a thread on the board not too long ago about "all the high priced 2g's"... Honestly, the value is in the eye of the beholder. That said, alot of eyes seem to be interested in turbo DSM's these days. Lately, I've seen quite a few 2g GSX go for well above the KBB value. Personally, I think you could get anywhere from $13,000-$16,000 for your car.

Actually according to the DMV census, the average amount of miles put on a car per year was recently increased to 17k. Just thought I would say that because I just read that not to long ago. :)

You can definitely get book value for that car, especially if it's in the condition that you are describe it as. The key to getting the most of your car's value is by waiting for the right buyer. You will get some insane low ball offers, but sooner or later someone with cash in their pocket will offer you what you want.
 
I actually bought that car back in october, not selling it. but I just wondered what dsmers thought b/c I paid about 1k over book and felt a little bad at first but now I'm glad I did. I love my dsm. esp one in this condition. when I was there buying it there were a couple others that offered 16 and 17k for it as I was closing my deal. made me feel a little better.. LOL.
 
i have a 92 6 bolt 4 bolt gsx has 115,000 miles on it stage 2 ported head, hks vpc, blowthrough intake pipe, K&N filter, burshar stage 2 ported 2g manifold, 3 inch downpipe, 2.5 inch catback, ported big 16g turbo, egt gauge, boost gauge, mp3 player, pda data logger. thats everything i can think of. how much would it be worth about outside is about 7 out of 10 and inside is about 7 out of 10. what would you guys pay for it about? just wondering a ballpark figure....

Does it have leather? Sunroof? Last timing belt job? Leak any oil? Is that AWD btw?

Paperwork on the maintenance? What color? Any dents? How many miles on the turbo?

What quirks does the car have? Any rattles, smoking? Exhaust leaks? Clean engine bay? Wheels? Tires? Rod knock? LOL Loud ass tapping lifters?

I'd say as low as $2500, on up to $4500. Most people want to buy DSM's for cheap. But it's Car with hard to find good ones cheap nowadays. About 80% of 1G turbo dsm's I see for sale either have an engine or tranny problem, or have the engine replaced (this is what I have been seeing on craig's list). So they end up either being really cheap or kind of expensive.

Here's what I notice on pricing:

If the car needs engine and/or tranny work, it's been neglected or in the wrong hands: $1000-$2500 (Even lower if it's really crap, as low as $500. but most people around here still seem to want about $1000 for a shell with most of the engine and tranny still in it, not running)

Car with original engine still running good (usually no mods or just a K&N): $2500-$4500

Car with replacement engine with mild mods: $4500-$5500

Fast ass 1G with lot's of mods and rebuilt (racebuilt) engine (300HP to 500HP): $6500-$15,000

Sounds like a non turbo to me. Do you currently own this GSX in the profile? Is that you?

Bottom line you got to find out what "needs work" means. It will probably need money put into it. Especailly if it's tubo, and especially if it's AWD ;)

Well to find out the low end of what you can get, go to edmunds.com, for the g\high end go to kbb.com

Of course I would need to inspect the car for CW before I could make an offer on it. Assuming the 7 bolt is not walking, then I would pay up to 10K or so I imagine. Without seeing it it's hard to say, but I think 10K would probasbly be an easy/fast sell. Especially if the tbelt has been done ;)
 
Hi, I found a 96 TSi awd that has a scorched piston (all the way to the left when looking from front of car) and I was wondering if it is worth getting and rebuilding or finding a different car. It has a magnus motorsports intake, 550cc injectors, T3/T4 turbo, FMIC, TiaL 39 or 44mm wastegate, SAFC2, Apexi N1 exhaust, 255lph fuel pump. It also has a 15,000 mile clutch, new transfer case and it is the cleanest dsm that i have seen. He wants 3,000 for it. Also it has the 97-99 conversion so i just wanted to know if i should get it or drop it like its hot:confused: thanks alot Ryan
 
i do have 95 Talon AWD with 130k miles on it...she has 16G and dry shot NOS with 10lbs Bottle, car have been keyed pretty bad on hood..hatch...and sides but i will paint this car for sure. also i try to install CF hood and get 3 inch downpipe with straight 3 inch cat-back.
also i have KYB GR2 with Eibach Springs needs to be installed and i may install Energy Suspension bushings some day.
How much you would pay for it ?

I'm very new to the DSM market although I've admired them from afar for some time. I had been considering for some time finding an older one that I could tinker with on my own in spare time, but have recently come across one that has many upgrades already performed.

Since I have no real experience with such upgrades I was wondering if anyone could do a sanity check for me just to see if the price is appropriate given the work put into it.

1995 Talon TSI AWD A/T.
It is grey on charcoal leather interior and has 112,000 km on the body.
It comes with a JDM spec motor with very low mileage (total mileage must be less than 30,000 km). A new JDM spec transmission was installed with the engine. It has the Translab shiftkit (very swift shifts) and the total mileage on it is less than 30,000 km.

Complete timing belt job at 80,000 km (all belts and the water pump were changed).
New set of 205/55 R 16 Nordic Icetrac snow tires on stock rims (less than 1000 km on them)
New set of brake rotors (less than 2000 km on them)
Power moonroof
Compustar two-way FM remote starter with alarm
Always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil (changed every 5000 km)
The car recently passed the emission test without a cat-converter, thanks to the DSMLink.

ok thanks, that kind of what I thought to. Also, the tranny wants to pop out of reverse and I think it is a shifting fork that is bent and is that safe or would it burn out the tranny alot faster than fixing it when putting in a new engine?
