Sorry for the long post ahead, but I really am looking for some help:

Alrighty, first of all I got a 91 Laser RST FWD. Its been a project car for the past 2 years, but never got fully finished due to time not being available. The body is all intact except the front and rear bumpers. I have both in great shape, but they are not on the car. Interior is completely stripped down to bare metal and all cleaned up, steering wheel is the only part of the interior remaining. Original sunroof and all glass is still in the car. I have 2 sets of front seats both in great condition, one black and one grey. I also have grey rear seats in great condition. I have just about every plastic piece from inside it, but it is all been taken out from the stripping/cleaning. I have an intercooler on it, but needs a slight welding due to the pipe on the endtank cracking. It has 660cc injectors in it from SBR, a 3" GM Mas with MAFT. Engine and trans (5-speed) were both rebuild recently. I have a 2g exhaust manifold with EGT tapped into it bolted to the 50 trim turbo (not sure what the turbo was, but its a garrett and similar to the T3/T4) and a 3" downpipe with atmospheric o2 dump. Needs to be put on car, but is complete. I also have a stock 14b w/ stock exhaust manifold and downpipe and the stock intercooler as backups. Has a mbc, 255 walbro with rewire, mopar boost gauge, autometer egt gauge, and greddy turbo timer. Has a good set of tires on a set of 16" rims (not sure if stock), as well as a brand new, never mounted, set of goodyear eagle 1 raised yellow letter tires. To get the car into running condition, it will need the following: Intercooler repaired, intercooler piping, turbo/exman put on, exhaust, and tuning. I also have every stock part minus the original 440cc injectors. I'm sure theres more, and I will include everthing I have for it.

I'm looking to buy a house, and need all the money I can get for a downpayment which means the car is going up for sale before I can even finish it. Anyone know what I should look to get for the car?

I would put a flame suit on man. Look at cars in similar shape with similar mods and price accordingly.

With all of those parts that you listed. I would just sell a lot of them seperate. Then just part out the car. I am sure there is some one looking for a parts car or something like that

Yeah, but there isn't anything like I have. Mine has a ton of upgraded parts, along with all the stock ones, but I haven't finished it. Thats also why I put it in the newbie forum, even though I've been around for years. I don't know what to look at getting for what I have.

I'm considering it, but it kinda hurts to think about parting out a car that has taken up so much of my free time over the last 2 years (even if it hasn't gotten it finish)

i have a question for u dsm members and owners. Would u buy a 91 eagle talon tsi awd auto for $2850?With the dsm were there any differnts from the manual and auto turbo sizes?:(

Automatics have smaller injectors and smaller turbos (13g). If you want to upgrade injectors, you will need to locate an ECU from a manual trans car, as well. As far as whether you should buy the car, you're on your own there. For $2850, the car should be in excellent shape before I would consider it personally.

Thats a pretty good deal. Its already the 6 bolt, so if you have any plans to upgrade it, its the right engine to do it on. The autos vs the manuals, the turbo is the same, but your injector sizes are a lot smaller. But other than that, it would be a good project car.

Ok yeah i own an 92 A/T and yes the turbo sizes are differnet. The A/T turbo is only a 13b to the manual being a 14b and if you have any proof that they are the same send me the link.

Guys, please remember that he is talking about a 1g and not a 2g. The 1g automatics DID come stock with smaller turbos, as well as 390cc injectors and different cams.

it's the 2gs that all came with the same turbos, regardless of transmission.

:thumb:

Ignore anyone saying the turbos are the same.

Manuals come with the 14b, which is the biggest turbo that comes stock on eclipses.

Autos come with the 13g, spools up 300 or so rpms faster, but isn't as good for upgrading.

95-99 eclipses come with a t-25 turbo, be it manual or auto.

2850 is kinda pricey for a 1g. It is awd, and it is auto. If you can, do a compression test and make sure the engine is in good condition. Tech articles have guides how to do one. Make sure the turbo works if you dont plan to upgrade it for a while. Check the differential to see if its welded or not. Overall, I wouldn't pay 2850 for a 1g, when you can get a shell for 200$, throw in an engine and tranny and still be under 2000 if you do the work yourself.

i was actaully wondering if the the 2nd gens all came with a t-25 regardless of A/T or M/T but i dont think you can get any smaller than a t-25

Yeah, as stated, they are all T25 on the 2g. 1g automatics came with TD04 (13g), manuals with the TD05H (14b).

Glad we could clear that up :thumb:

i am looking into buying a 93 eclipse. They are asking 900.00. the add says 93 eclipse runs with 174 k miles runs but needs work. is this a fair price? the body is in great shape and it has auto trans. Is there any problem areas that i should look for? i will be going this weeked to look at it.
Thanks

ok personally i wouldn't go with a nautomatic car if you want serious power and want to feel it but if that your preferece the motor has to much miles on it for a boosted car it has been abused ALOT so keep looking there out there if your patient it will come i waited 4 months for mine to finally come to me after searching high and low hope this helps good luck and welcome to the dsm world "in advance"

What I would do if i found a GSX for that much, just buy and drop another engine in there and turn around and sell it. I have done that in the past and still do it. You can make quite a bit of money from doing that if you know what your doing. But overall, it isnt a bad price.

Im going to sell this car im tired of it.... Anyways I just wanted to get your opinions before I do.

1990 Talon Tsi
Straight body except small dent on rear quarter needs paint
145k miles on car. Stock wheels with 80% on tires.
Stock Exhaust
FORGOT ABOUT LSD rear from 92!
Mods:
EVO III 16g with 5-7k miles on it (turbo timed)
AFPR on fuel Rail with gauge
Walbro 255hp
FIC 650cc injectors
FMIC 31x8x4
Safc 1
boost gauge
Pioneer cd/mp3/wma stock speakers
Eprom ecu with 650cc chip

Included:
spare awd trans with supposedly 5k+ miles on rebuild
spare transfer case
Stock injectors/stock smic/basically stuff to put it back to stock if you need it.

The bad:
Oil leaks
Valve seals leak oil and smokes after about 5-10 minute idle (has passed smog this way though)
Dented 1/4 panel
No headliner

Anyways what do you guys think?

Pricing a modified DSM is indeed tricky as you can get some premium from the additions if the buyer is informed and has need of such things, but most of the time folks will look off BlueBook / Edmunds and see that a 16yo DSM is worth $2,500.

If you had extensive mods (which you dont' have) parting out the car usually gives you the better return.

My advice is to value your mods at 50% your cost and add into the conditional price of your car. Remember the 90s have a strong engine/tranny (minus the oitput shaft) but a weak rear diff, crappy shifer and weak X-Fer case :dsm:

just closed a deal in on a tsi awd talon 1994 for 500.00 but the tranny is shot and not rebuildable. question is will a jdm 90-94 eclispe 5 speed turbo awd tranny bolt right up.please help me.ROFL ROFL
