I too am a DSM guy, and I would much rather have the DSM than that honda, but at the same time I would rather have a quick little running car than a parts car sitting in the garage. Even if you could make a few hundred bucks more parting out the DSM wouldn't you rather just sell the honda strait up? Parting out a car can be a pain, listing it all on ebay is even more of a pain, and in the end you'll have a heap of junk to take to the junk yard and they may just charge you to get rid of it. It just seems to me that its not worth the trouble considering the small amount of money you stand to gain from your labor. Thats all I've got.

just fyi, if i got a 2g i would switch out the motor for a 6 bolt anyways, and the t25 gets used up quickly, so if you were to buy it, drop in a new motor and plan on modding the thing, you wouldnt be that far back, jsut make sure everything else is working, ie THE ECU, among other things...

Well... Im a mitsu guy straight up. However, seeing as how the del sol killed the CRX and was then labeled as a chick car, the CRX is already hard to get your paws on, especially since every jo schmo on the block wants a honduh to play with (sorry the "honduh" is habit). Anyone here will tell you, a DSM is no playground. You have apparently laid alot of work into that CRX. Did this guy sell the turbo already? Is that why he has a SS AutoCrap BOV Still? Look man. You can part this thing out, but if you honda guys are the same about your cars as DSM'ers are. You are gonna be left with a hole in your soul and alot of regret. In my opinion, keep that CRX and take pride in it, dont get the missing turbo GST, part it out, be carless, and realize you let go of a gem. Ya heard?

Man never thought I'd say that bout a Honduh. LOL

Take it for what its worth man, thats my $.02

Ryan :talon:

Haha, oh man. I never thought i would be called a honda guy,LOL. I have 3 DSM's and the honda is my car i drive to beat on and go around town. I think I will keep the rex though. The GST guy sounds too shady. I have owned 3 4G63's, and I'm a loyal DSMer forever. ROFL Honda guy ROFL . Thanks for the advice though guys, I'll stick with my current DSMs for now. :thumb:

Hey everyone, I'm new over here from 2gnt.com. I used to have a base model rs, but i traded for a 95 Mustang GT. Well I recently sold it and im on a hunt for another DSM. This time I'm wanting a turbo. I found one local, Its a 96 GS-T, blitz body kit, sides molded in, racing seats, power everything, 18" konig wheels, pirelli tires, fmic, turbo timer, boost controler, hks bov, piller guages, 5-speed, black, 90k on it. He says its got an upgraded turbo, it says TD05 on it. Im not familiar with the turbo side of Eclipse's so im not sure on that. But he's wanting 5k for it. I didnt think it was that bad of a deal. If you all say its a keeper, im buyin it.

if it says tdo5 on it it is an upgraded turbo, it most likely is the stock 1g turbo a 14b, but that is still and upgrade from 2g's t25, for 5k id say go for it :thumb:

Sounds like a good deal, but with those mods it could have been drove hard. How long have the mods been on? Do a carfax on it and have it checked out by someone who knows turbo cars, preferrably DSM's.

Well the car just got the fmic and the turbo from what he says. He just bought it from a buddy of his, in which his wife drove the car from when it was new. So i dont think it has been abused too bad. I drove the car, and its holding right at 16 pounds of boost, thats the the autometer gauge says. It has the Air/Fuel guage, Water temp, and boost guage on the pillar.

Buying tips no check engine light on ....run it to autozone to see if he did disconnect it to rest it .... also Check the engine oil also and spark plug boots make sure there dry the price sounds nice can't beat me 1500.00 97 GST 160k lot of miles chick owned

get it and welcome back to the :dsm: life

Yea im glad im coming back to the :dsm: side of things. I liked that Mustang, but I just felt more at home in the Eclipse. But there is a CEL on, dont know what its for though. I might see if he will let me drive it down to the zone and check it out.

The car doesnt look bad, but the pics are not that great. I go by the rule of not buying anyone elses problem. Sure you can say its this or that, but if it was so easy to fix, wouldn't he just sell it fixed and for more money? and isnt $3500 what you'd want to pay for one thats running?

With only 2,000 of those cars imported , I would pick it up for what he wants. :thumb:

Go for it, its a rare car, and its an amazing car. Someone sunk a lot of money into that car with mods that are hard to come by. totally worth your time. I hope your a good mechanic though. :thumb:

hmm it seems like a good deal, but if it was such a minor problem for such a great car. why would he want to just sell it for 3500....why put all that money into a rare car with a minor problem and then said hell with it and give up all your hard work and money?

I would ask him some questions about the car and WHY he is really selling it.

if all sounds good i guess if you have 3500 laying aroudn go buy it! but...this isn't a car to get a loan for =)

I have a 1991 Eagle Talon NT. Body is in pretty good condition with a few fix ups i will take car of this winter. (pictures in my profile) Interior is good with new shifter nob, black interior, reverse glow gauges. As for the internals its rebuilt less than 3 k ago, balanced shaft removed, turbo cams ,headers, exhaust, air intake, vacum lines removed, no cat, thats all i can remeber. But it was my first car and i put a good amount of money into it but i am lookin for something faster. How much would you buy this car for. I was thinking 3-4 grand. Tranny shifts good too. Then again i live in michigan and peopel like to waste money up here so why not waste it on me. But some feed back would be good. Any questions feel free to ask.

It is always so hard to answer these sort of questions because of course not very many people want to pay much for anything these days. :coy: You said it was non-turbo? That makes it even harder because most DSM enthusiasts in my area don't really care much for the non-turbo cars. Not saying anything bad because I have a GS Spyder myself but....... I would agree with SkyLineGtR-R34 on this one. Check out Kelly Blue Book and add and substract for whats there and what needs work. Good luck man!

91' TSI $400

The catch :

It's been outside HEAD OFF for atleast 6 months. Car needs ECU and Tranny control modual (auto tranny). From what I hear it's in good shape body wise but at this point probably needs a rebuild.

This is from a guy at work who wants to buy this off some mechanic. The mechanic told him that the car had a "loose belt" and he didn't know it. Went to go move the car and bent the valves in the process. I told my buddy the story sounds a little funny and I be more then happy to check it out for myself and be able to give him a more experienced opinion on wether it's worth the effort or not. The best part about all this is this guy I work with knows NOTHING about cars and I mean NOTHING exspecially turbo cars. So he's thinking that he can pop the head on and drive the car away no problem. I told'em that it wasn't that easy considering the car has been OUTSIDE since god knows when with an open block. But he still plans on steaming ahead, any advice other then what I tried to educate him on that's DSM specific I can give this guy ?

6 months?! Jesus christ, that block is dead. pistons probably seized too. Is there not rust sitting all over the top of the block?!

I have actually seen blocks that had sat outside for a length of time and be salvageable, but I do all My own work minus heat tanking and machine work so it is very feasable for Me to pick up a car like that. He needs to weigh the final price and compare to finding one that runs.
Mike

That's what I've been trying to tell him. Me personally I've been in situatuions like this before enough times to know what I was getting into. He seems to think it's a walk in the park and it's really not all that easy. He says he can do it all himself, but he don't know anything ROFL . That's what I don't understand but I'll keep pounding it in his head. The funniest thing about all this is that he has a running 90' RS that just needs shocks and brakes. He wants to get rid of it because, get this, "It has too many problems".
