well i choose the black one because a fellow DSM tuner the problem is probably the CRANK ANGLE SENSOR or the tach itself because when the RPM's dropped as the seller described the car itself did not buck or slow down

i dont understand whats so good about the white one the cover is either white or missing or something...the guy said he fixed the axle. the black one doesnt even really have any problems. you guys sure about the white one?

The white one is cheaper with a newly built engine. What were the advantages of the black one over the white one??? They don't even know what wrong with the black one except "it doesn't run right". 200 mile engine that runs or 133000 mile engine that doesn't. Hmmm.....

the black one was also rebuilt and the transmission was rebuilt in the last 3000 miles. aftermarket 2.5 inch exhaust. new clutch about 1000 miles ago. new brake pads and rotors within 1000 miles.

and in the description it says it has a 16G turbo on it. so to me it seems better than the white one

I noticed the white one has the RFL BOV and its venting to the atmosphere. I can almost guarenteed he didnt tune the car to vent to the atmosphere. I'm sure it would run a little bit better with the factory 1g bov, and have recirculated.

It's hard to say, because at a first look I would say the white when, but if you read it a second time after reading the black one, it seems like they knew what they were doing with the black one. Both auctions are too vague to be able to chose one. Both will have problems, but the things that were fixed on the black one sound like they were done right.

You gotta be rational. You could buy the white one and part off all the brand new parts and probably get a 200 or 300% profit on the car. It runs fine and needs about 500 dollars worth of work to make it look new. The downside is that it really doesn't say how many miles on the turbo which could be imperative. The black has underlying problems on a 133000 mile engine. It could be that sensor or it could be a bigger problem that could end up costing you more than the car. Its your choice, but I would have picked the white one. I would drive it before I fork out some money for sure though. Good Luck.

yeah you should have a heat shield on it. and the guy said it was a 16G turbo is it FOR SURE not a 16G?

here are some pics of the black ones engine and one interior.

i did a car fax the black one has had at least 3 owners and mileage is corretct.

the white one has had at least 5 owners and was last recorded as having 164 thousand miles in 2001...

opinions still the same?

the black one is SUPPOSED to have a 16G what do you guys think about that?

look at the compressor fins, pop the intake off. If they are all the same length- 14b. If they alternate - 16g.

Looks good but that intake needs some help. Try to get a bottom view of the turbo.

The white one fer sure. Black cars clearcoat fade like nutz after years of aging. White cars are cooler in the Summer plus allot easier to keep clean overall. The white car is driveable where as the black one has some unknown issues. You can resell the white one easier than you could the black since it's driveable. You can drive the white car home but have to have the black car towed. It's your money but I'd say invest in something that needs minor repairs than major ones. The black one has a bunch of goodies on it but it's not something you couldn't add to the white car at a later date. When in doubt just list the pros/cons then go from there. :talon:

Ok so I found my next baby online for a good price and a few problems I'm curious what you guys think.

98 GSX with 83,000 miles, 5 speed, white with grey leather, completely stock looking.

Heres the good: 16g, 2.5 turbo back exhaust, S-AFC, He's pushing 20psi, 255lph walbro fuel pump, 550cc injectors, Boost and A/F guages, Injen Intake pipe with filter, Greddy bov, boost controller, Intercooler fogger kit, the leathers in GREAT shape, Hahn racing front mount i/c, ITS CLOSE TO HOME!!

Heres the bad: The belts squeal like mad, the rear has been repainted, the tires have maybe 20% left, the car has a problem with a misfire- It will actually sound like a machine gun right after it starts to boost I don't quite know what it is yet. I think it might be related to the safc or the coil packs...not sure, the foglights don't work, Lifter tick, the indiglo guages are finicky - they work when they want to, I can't really find anything else....OH the cupholder is broken, I'll need to enter a code to turn the stereo on - not sure what thats all about...

I am concerned with the fact that he's running 20psi on 550 injectors...lemme know what yall think about this...

Anyways thats about it. He's asking 10k for it. He offered to fix all the problems before he sells it to me.
Does offering him 9k and him fix everything sound like a deal? Lemme know what yall think.

This is my second dsm, i have a 90 tsi awd in my garage torn apart... :dsm:

10 may be a tad high.. the problems dont seem that major to me? tension up the belts, take out the stupid indiglo's, turn the boost down, get a new cd player, find some decent used tires.. get new plugs/wires, check for boost leaks.. personally i would offer him like 8500 or 9 and fix the stuff yourself.. i would rather do that just so i knew what was going on..

if everything pans out alright with the car i would get it.. you'll love having a white 2gb..
i do!
(old pic btw)

How much would you pay for a 96 gst syder thats pretty much bone stock w/ 105000 miles? Also, how much would you pay for a 95 talon tsi fwd w/109000 miles on the body and a newly rebuilt 7bolt? Which would you rather have?

About 10 days ago my car was totaled and I'm thinking of buying another one..I found this one on ebay and went to take a look at it because it's in Miami and I must say that I was really pleased..His mod list is really nice and the power is what I'm looking for. I also like the body (flawless) because of the stock presence..Let me know what you guys think and what you guys think it needs as far as the mods go.

its very nice and clean, if you can get it for a good price i would go for it, the only thing that makes me think twice, but not a deciding factor, why did he put an external wastegate with the 16g, ah well, good luck
