what is VENTING?

I called him and ask him some questions, he seemed like a normal guy. I ask for more pictures and he's gonna send some of the engine bay

he said no broken ears on the block

I think the guy is straight up and up....... the price of the car is going up and up too!!!!!!

dang it!

i found a 1996 talon tsi with a gsx front bumper. this is what the guy says about it, "blown motor, bad inj, many many upgrades, turbo t3/t4 frt mount more" the body looks in good shape and its got nice rims. i called the guy and he said it needed a new head and block. hes selling it for $4500. is this worth it??? how much will it cost for a new block and head? and whats a whole new turboed engine cost about??? thanks.

If its a 96 talon tsi with t3/t4 and a front mount intercooler and everything else that i understand i think it would be worth it. If you wanted to make this car fast you could simply just buy a built block and head of slowboy racing for around $2500 which can handle 800 hp. i got my whole engine replaced for $2000.00 cdn but that is a stock engine. i would say buy it and get an engine from slowboy. besides the 1996 talons have the 7 bolts engines so in this case you could do a 6 bolt swap like every other person that has a 7 bolt wants to do. Stupid crank walk. well i hope this was helpful, if you have anymore questions just ask

^see what you can find in there ^

Not worth it imo. I could probably find a 96 tsi awd that actually RUNS for the same price if I looked hard enough.

thanks for the quick help guys i almost got a crappy car. im just really pumped to get a gsx or tsi. i love the cars so much im easily baught! haha thanks again.

Man the price is really going up on this car... it's over 800 now...

you guys think its worth it?

Please let me know I am really watching this auction

I wouldn't pay more then 1000 for that car. It has a good bit of miles, and most likely problems that follow close behind it. The guy put some kind of 'performance' exhaust on the car so chances are that it was not drove by grand-ma' everyday. Eitherway if you are looking to buy a DSM for cheap, as I did... you are looking to really learn how to fix things. You'll have to put money back into it eitherway, so if you want it because its 'cheap' your getting the wrong car. If you want it because its AWD and you can make it fast for cheap, with hard work - your looking at the right thing.

but it does have rims, t3/t4, fmic, gsx front end conversion, and the bodys in good shape

Okay? So if you buy the car, you have to get fuel management. You also need a t3/t4 manifold, you also need a bigger turbo because that FMIC is going to overrun the stocko hairdryer.

I'll go on if you want more answers.

well i came across a 94 eagle talon tsi turbo. i thought it was a non turbo until i seen it say tsi. the guy told me that the turbl is acting up and that's it and that it didnt have power steering fluid. the only bad thing is its auto, should i still buy it? 500 bucks dont seem like much for the car. oh yea no rust on the body except the hood. what you guys think?

Go take a look at it and have a known mechanic around the area to go over it for anything major. I bought my rs awd for $500 with only a slipping clutch. :D

Chris:laser:

P.S. Forgot to add, do a few tests, leak test, compression, just the usual :D :thumb:

just because its cheap doesn't mean it sucks

pretty for 500, you are buying a shell

if you purchase it and the engine or tranny really suck, you will either be able to swap in a new engine or tranny and still have your tsi for about 3000 or you can part the car and get back more than 500 easily.

i say go for it, but not if you plan to have a flawless car

power steering fluid is missing may mean a bad pump, reservoir or broken tubes, bring a bottle with you and put it in to see if theres a leak.

My friend who owns two 1g tsi's already just decided to buy another for $300 dollars... it has a blown motor, but my friend is going to get it because he's a dsm nut. It's a matter of what's available to you, if you're capable of fixing a broken car yourself, then it's totally worth it, but if you're planning to buy it and swap the motor/trans, the amount of money you'd spend doing that could be used to buy a decent running car.

Bottom line: some people would be more than happy to find one that cheap and fix it.

Okay, here is the deal: I have an 88 CRX Si with kyb agx's, eibach prokit, eibach sway bars, upper and lower front and rear strut bars, new falken ziex tires, new windshield, new plugs, timing belt, cv axles, clutch, tanny input shaft bearing, etc. This guy local to me has 97 red GST with good paint and swirly rims painted black with a turbo x's bov, megan racing DP, and no turbo. It has a locked up motor, ran dry on oil. If he is willing to trade staight up for my crx, would it be a worthwhile trade? could i part out the GST for a decent amount of $$, or fix it? Any thoughts are more than appreciated. :thumb:

id just get the gst and part that bad boy out. you could make some decent cash with just parts.

That's what I was thinking, I just want to make sure I can make enough to offset the value of the crx, it would go for around $2500-$3000 around here.

well just the 2gb stock body (front, sides, rear, spoiler) i say you could get maybe 600 for all that
then the rims and tires another 150
rear hatch 200
doors 200(100 a piece)
depending what color the interior is 100-250
the head 150
block 200 (since its siezed)
manifold 100
alternator 40
starter 40
ac compressor 40

and the list just goes on right there thats around 1800 bucks and you still got a lil more things. then you can go to the recycle yard and see if they will give you anything for it

Id say keep the crx but thats because im a honda guy.

Its not worth a crx, if it is in good condition, for a gst with no motor and no turbo.

id get teh gst and part it out, then again, i dont like hondas except for the s2k and nsx :talon:

Well... Im a mitsu guy straight up. However, seeing as how the del sol killed the CRX and was then labeled as a chick car, the CRX is already hard to get your paws on, especially since every jo schmo on the block wants a honduh to play with (sorry the "honduh" is habit). Anyone here will tell you, a DSM is no playground. You have apparently laid alot of work into that CRX. Did this guy sell the turbo already? Is that why he has a SS AutoCrap BOV Still? Look man. You can part this thing out, but if you honda guys are the same about your cars as DSM'ers are. You are gonna be left with a hole in your soul and alot of regret. In my opinion, keep that CRX and take pride in it, dont get the missing turbo GST, part it out, be carless, and realize you let go of a gem. Ya heard?

Man never thought I'd say that bout a Honduh. LOL

Take it for what its worth man, thats my $.02
