Man if it don't run and you have to fix it. I would offer $500.00! I can get one same year and problems for $300.00. So it all depends on you. The only reason I can get this one that cheap is the body is a little ruff and the guy don't want to screw with it anymore. :talon:

I agree, i wouldnt pay more than 500 for a car with that kind of problems. I've paid less for 1g's with nowhere near as many issues

True, i wouldnt waste my time offering someone who is expecting to sell a car that's worth 1500-2k in decent condition for 1800, that just happens to need half of the engine replaced in order to run, only 500 dollars either. I would just laugh, shake my head, and move on.

OMG So what you are saying is this guy or anyone else should pay $1800.00 for a car that don't run. And we don't even no if the motors blown, valves bent, cracked block, ect, ect! :nono:

Hey, I'm a newbie to the DSM scene and am really interested in getting a AWD 1G. I am going to school in colorado and want a car that I can drive through the mountains with while being fun to drive. I have a fairly good general knowledge of cars and my roomate is pretty good with cars. He has completely built up a 69 camaro from nothing which has taken 1st place at muscle car shows but doesn't have much experience with imports. He is going to be building a 240sx up with a rb25 in it while I'm hoping to fix up a DSM.

This is the car I'm looking at

My roomate said that he knows how to replace the clutch fork but he said it could be hard because he said i need to remove the transmission. We were both planning on painting the cars ourselves and he has painting experience with his camaro so I'm not too worried about the bad paint. I guy selling the car said I could buy it for $1800 but i may be able to talk him down slightly more. I'm also worried a little about all the miles on the body. What do you guys think, is it worth it or should i just keep waiting it out? I'm kinda desperate for a DSM....thanks - Aaron

Personally, I would stay away.

That turbo means it's been abused, simple as that. Noone puts a bigger turbo on without boosting it. Also, he didn't mod anything else from the looks of it, doesn't sound like he knows what he's doing. He had no supporting mods, but swapped to a bigger turbo anyway.

If you're REALLY desperate, get it, but keep in mind, the right car will always come. Good things come to those who wait! :thumb:

Thats not always the case. If the old 14b crapped out why not get a little better one for 500$ brand new, then one from the dealer or a used and abused 14b.

Thats alot of miles for that price. You could find one a whole lot cheaper. And after they get to about 150,000 they need lots and lots of TLC, trust me. Plus the body on that thing sucks :notgood:

Sounds shady to me...He took the time to rebuild the motor, but wouldn't put in a new clutch fork? I would stay away as well. Plus it has a lot of miles on it.

here is another question, is the 06 eclipse worth it?? i am thinking about the trade but my problem with it is im not sure how long it will be before performance parts will be available for the 4g. i have also heard that there is a turbo option for this model. is this a true statement??

I love the new eclipse but i am unaware of any turbo options unless its a aftermarket kit. however, i have herd of a awd option sometime in the future but that could be bs also i wouldnt count my blessings on that. but i think there will be some parts out shortly. but i would defenatly trade your n/t or for one but make sure you get the 3.8L with a 6 speed it will be worth the extra money. :dsm:

The New Eclipse is suppose to be the answer to Nissan's 350z....the 3.8 Mivec engine is 263 hp...which , correct me if I'm wrong, is the most horsepower any generation eclipse had bone stock....anyways the new exterior i think personally looks really good....an improvement from the 3rd gen....now if the awd or turbo rumors become true than this thing will worth every penny!! :thumb: :dsm: :talon: :laser:

no option for turbo

the engine is abit UNDER-rated horsepower wise

runs 14.1s@101mph stock all day long.

Pretty good gains from minor bolt ons, and the headers should result in a BIG gain, seeing as how the cats are built onto the headers. talk about restrictive.

There's talk of a Ralliart model that will come with turbo. No news on any specs or dates. I'll see if I can find the article I read that in.

guy around here has the new eclipse and hes starting to work on it, hes already done a custom 3" exhaust, fabricated a custom CAI, and has custom headers, dynos 302whp not sure if he has anything else but sure of those mods but thats almost 40 hp

What would you pay for a 91 Galant vr4 with a blown engine? There is no rust on the body. It looks clean and the interior is in good condition, 77000 on the odometer. KBB says it has "no value". LOL Any thoughts?

$1500 at the most, how's the trans? Being the cheap ass that I am, I would try and get them down to 1000-1200.

my friend just bought one for 2700 with a blown engine but it did have a tre tranny with reciepts showing it was installed 500 miles ago

id say whatever you can get it for.

gvr4 are the perfect sleepers. those that dont know about them will soon feel their fury, those that do know will stay the #### away so they dont have to feel the fury.

a blown engine is just more a reason to upgrade to a built 2.3 with some sort of large turbo capible of putting 4-500hp without breaking a sweat.
