thats around what i was thinking but if i do decide to sell it im gonna try really hard to get 5000....i just dont know if that will happen

5k is gonna be way to much for that TSI ithink they book at around 4000bucks with that kind of miles on them.. even with the tranny rebuild i think it will be hard to get more than 4k for it..

I guess I just don't understand.

98 RS - You already own and paid 3750 for it, right?

1g TSi - could buy for $3500

What are you talking about a loan for? You want to buy the 1g on top of the 98 you already own? That's probably not a good idea.

Just keep the RS - I'm not sure how old you are, but you sound like (no offense) you're not financially secure enough to pay for an old, turbocharged car when it breaks down. Notice I didn't say if, I said when. My 95 GSX only had 110,000 on it and just burnt a valve and cost me sixteen-hundred bucks. If you buy an old 1g, just be prepared for something like that to happen. It's a good probability.

p.s. I also started out with a n/t DSM, finally got a good job 2 yrs. out of highschool, and now I make enough to support the GSX. It really is a good feeling to build yourself up to the point where you can afford a turbo.

Well guys as most of you know im trying to replace my AWD DSM that got totaled a few weeks back. I have looked around but want to get something newer with less miles. Today I looked at a girl’s car, she is kind of a dsm’er but more into the show kind of thing I guess. She has a 1998 GSX with 83,k on it. Everything in the motor is chrome(not what im into :thumbdown ) there is a Injen intake a HKS BOV a turbo XS MBC with auto meter gauges. The outside is bone stock except for a 2in drop with a camber kit. She doesn’t have the GSX wheels(what I really want :thumbdown ) but has a set of Enkei 17s and another set of “pep boys rims” with snow tires. She also has an HKS exhaust and down pipe but there still in the box. I am really against buying a pre-modified car but im kind of at a limited selection. Now the paint is in far condition for a 98. There are spider webs on both of the bumpers. The Timing belt as been done but the water pump looked old. The valve cover leaks and there is a leak in the flange of the turbo oil supply line. The driver’s door handle is broken as well. Then the clutch is so bad that you have to pull it back up with your foot to drive it. She wants 11,000$ for this but will take 10,500 but she keeps the exhaust. I really cant see the car being worth that much what do you think I should do or offer? Im going to rip all the chrome off the car and put all of my parts in the place of hers..

i'd pay 10 with the exhaust cuz of the condition of the clutch...i'm not into chrome dress up stuff so i don't know what it's worth, but if you can sell it all off and make some money back then maybe 10,500 with the exhaust...

my $.02

I am going to be selling my car soon and I don’t no what I should ask for it. So I was wondering if you guys can tell me what you think its worth. It’s a 1993 eclipse Gs, stock 1.8, 5spd, custom paint, rims blah blah blah.... I will put some pics of it up so you can take a look. Thanks

Only you know what your car is worth. You have put your time and money into it and no one else can tell you what they think someone would pay for it. Ask a price, and hope someone realizes that it's worth it.

I have to disagree, in a real world what's it worth is what a buyer is willing to pay for it...

now if you provide more info...miles, repairs, etc. we can give you more accurate amount...

Now your car it the LEAST desirable of all 1g's to be honest, I presonally would consider buying it as a cheap daily driver. I personally wouldn't pay much extra for the paint job or the rims (max $300-$500 extra)

Now you might squeeze more out if you find yuong ricer kid that falls in love with it....

Yah, thats the kind of car you should try to sit in a parking lot by a busy intersection for a few days w/ "for sale" signs on it. More then likely someone younger will see that car and pay good money for it because it looks nice and gives that fast appearance which every kid wants in highschool (im including myself at that age too).

As opposed to putting it in the paper saying "93 eagle talon 1.8 liter"$----. which would make it seem overpriced on paper.

The car has 103k on it and for repairs, it just needs a E brake cable and 2 new caliper brackets. <~~Doesnt NEED but should have. I put new forged pistons in it about 2 years ago because i wanted to put the juice on it but never got around to doing that. I was thinking about just putting it on ebay to see what i can get for it.

I think the price of the car is what the seller wants it to be. If he/she wants to sell it for $7,000 and the car is only worth $2,000, then they should be able to do that. If you don't like the pricing, then don't buy the car!!! You'd be pretty stupid to complain about a price of a car if you're not gonna buy it. The seller wants to get the most money out of his/her car, so just let them. I admit, some people price their cars way over the KBB price, but it's their car that their trying to sell, and if they don't sell it, hopefully they'll learn not to price it so high.

I'd say it's wort $1500 or so ... as said before it'd be a nice cheap daily driver. Since it's not turbo you won't find someone looking to find a 1g to make it fast...

Well if that's all you did to it, no clutch replacements, etc I would pay $300-$400 under the KBB valuse for you car.

But if you do you job right you might get $600-$700 over KBB for it, but like I said that would require finding young kid who's going for the bling bling look.

As for lisiting is on Ebay...you are just wasting you time. 99% of the time the winning bidder is some f@$king looser who never pays up..

hey whats up im new to the forums and i am lookin for some help. i just found a 91 talon tsi with 88,000 miles almost stock. its got a MBC and a boost gauage. also an add on muffler will come of in favor for a catback if i get the car. it has all the tune ups like the new timeing belt and water pump etc. new fornt axels new tie rods and a new clutch it looks very nice and the interior is mint ther is no rust on the car at all...he is askin 4000 for it saying he paid 5000 for it 6000 miles ago..i thinki can talk him down to about 3500 not sure is this car worth it, any help would be apriciated...o ya i also live in MI if tha helps. thanks - cody

ya thats what i thought but i ma kinda new to DSM's and he said that it needs a turbo seal?...how hard is that to replace?

A bad turbo seal means that you will smoke under boost and your looking at a rebuild of the stock 14B turbo. It would be wiser to save money for a rebuilt 14B or upgrade to a 16G rather to fork out the couple hundred bucks it will take to rebuild the 14B.

since hes selling it so quickly "after only 6,000miles" it kinda sounds to me like you might be buying someone elses problems

ya thanks for the info one of my friend is selling his for 2500 its also a 91 tsi and it has a MBC, 550's, with a intank pump not sure wich , 2100 clutch, h&r springs kyp adjustables and 3in exhaust, some free mods he also has a nology coil and plug wires, its got rims juss some 16's and tints...but the draw back for me is the 130,000 miles its got he says its got a newer trans and transfer case new front axels and supposidly the motor has bout 30,000 on it...i think it sounds nice but my dad begs to differ...help please thanks - cody
