what do you guys think about this??

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

ive been talking to him and he says it needs a 2 tow core radiator, a new turbo, paint job, front mount intercooler is bent, the tags have expired, he "says" it has been rebuilt with bigger pistons and high performance valves etc. he also says the reason he says it needs a new turbo is because when it hits ten lbs of boost it doesnt push further. he went down to 3000 on the phone and then texted me saying even 2500 idn it sounds kinda fishy that he wants it gone so bad. but let me know what you guys think

i really want a tsi awd or a gsx but there just so damn hard to come accross here for a decent price

PASS!!! Run away asap. That car looks like it's going to break away

130k and the rebuild has around 50k i got the papers from the shop the previous owner got it done at

1997 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD; Clear Title, No Accidents, Extremely well maintained all around; 3rd Owner, Non Smoker 104500 Highway miles on chassis; under 3000 miles on built 2.3l 1G 6 bolt bottom end with new 100mm crank, forged eagle rods and 8.8-1 Wiseco anti-friction coated stroker pistons; ARP Everything; Balanced Shafts removed; 1G head cleaned up with 1g CAS installed, new guides, FP3 cams, FP Dual Valve Spring/Ti retainer kit; New Belts, ilder pulley, manual and hydraulic tensioners; Calsonic Skyline R34 FMIC with custom 2.5 piping installed, Tial 50mm BOV, Air conditioning is uncompromised; FP Red turbo with RRE oil feed line; MBC; Ported Evo 3 manifold, Tial MV-S Wastegate on manifold, GM 3 maf in blow through mode running into Ecmlink V3 via ECMlink MAf cable; Zeitronix Wideband 02, Full 3in Megan Racing Exhaust including O2 Housing; Walbro 255; Aeromotive fuel rail , SX fuel pressure regulator; Polyurethane front tranny Mount; FP intake; K&N 12 Filter, Fluidyne aluminum race radiator, Spal 12 1300 cfm slim fan; Galant Cam Cover; RRE Aluminum Spark Plug Cover ; Transmission is solid, absolutely no synchro grinding in any gears; Fidanza Aluminum flywheel, Centerforce Clutch w/ ACT street disk; RRE clutch line, Taboo slave rod; RRE front and rear strut tower braces; Greddy boost and Fuel pressure gauges, Westach EGT guage with TRE probe; Extremely solid car, extremely clean interior, leather seats are in excellent condition and have no tears in them

126k on a 91 eclipse GSX. 132 compression across all 4 cylinders guy thinks someone rebuilt the motor. We did a cold compression test Front of car needs paint pretty bad but interior is great, has a new alternator, new battery and a new starter. But the car will not start. I haven't checked to see if it has fuel, or spark. He wants a grand for the car. Think that is too much? All stock too no mods :thumb: which is nice to find when they are all stock.
 
alright so i went to see this car yesterday and pretty much we came down to the last step to complete the paperwork but i saw the smog was 5 months old and i would have to get it smogged again. hes telling me the car wont pass smog because of the aftermarket cams and bigger injectors he has put in and stuff so were gunna go to the dmv together on monday to see if theyll put it under my name there with us together cause he just paid for the new registration and everything about a month ago. so before everything goes through i want to see what you guys think

its a 1998 eclipse GST charcoal gray. i would give the body and paint a 8 out of 10. the motor seemed pretty healthy from what i could tell. i did a cold compression test on the car and it was at 180 175 175 180 on the cylinders. that seems damn good too me. the car has a freshly rebuilt motor with only 10k on it and a brand new tre transmission. and a act clutch and lightweight flyweel that was barely put in. the car has a bunch of mods big front mount intercooler, hard pipe with greddy bov, intake, bigger injectors, 16g turbo, 02 housing, catch can with breather, downpipe, SAFC, boost gauge, oil pressure gauge theres prob more that im forgetting.
the only things wrong with the car are a bad power steering pump so theres no powersteering whatsoever (a real workout to drive LOL) no ac because the compressor has gone bad, and a leaking valve cover. the guy is the original owner of the car and has a ton of receipts, he also says that all the work on this car has been done at road race engineering.

i have a couple questions

will the powersteering pump off a 95 gs fit on this 98 gst??

i saw on here a week or so ago someone posted a link to a website where you can buy powdercoated valve covers for really cheap. if anyone can find that that would be great.

and the last thing is the cams, i really dont have much experience with aftermarket cams. but the car was idling not too good it would jump up and down from 700-1500 and it sounded like it was constantly misfiring but i think thats normal and it sounded pretty much like all the other cars ive heard that they say theyve putten in different cams but is that normal?. the guy said the cel light was on from this because of the bigger injectors and cams and once i put the stock cams in the light still wont go away. how hard is it to put the stock cams back in?

Me: Will you send me some exterior pictures? Is the car throwing a check engine light? Is it on the stock turbo? For that one minute it starts, is it running ok or is it sputtering/hesitating? Do you know what the compressions for each cylinder is?

Him: i can send pics through phone, no CEL that i noticed when i've started it, stock 14b, it does sputter when running, and i dont know the compression, it is supposed to have eagle rods and weisco pistons as well.

Me: When did it start to happen? how long have you had the car? did it just happen one day when you tried to start it or were you driving it one day it it started to sputter? did you jump timing? sorry for all the questions, but its just because im interested.

Him: the idle at cold start has been a little sputery since ive got it, but when warm it was fine, but now it wont stay running long enough to warm up. the running problem started once i put the new ECU in it, the guy said the ECU was for a 1990 GSX?? i got the car in Jan. i don't think i jumped timing, i never thought to check that.
 
Yeah I'm thinking of just picking it up and the worst case is I can make my money back if not more. I'll try to low ball the hell out of him first haha. Sounds like a bad ecu, plugs, wires, coil pack or maybe the CAS?
 
Thinking of selling or trading my 92 Talon TSi but don't know how much to list it for.

Recently painted (amateur job), new KYB shocks/struts all the way around. New tires (actually just delivered sitting on my porch), new plugs/wires, and a Pyle in-dash dvd player (needs better mounting but functional). I haven't had it for very long, just long enough to paint it basically. I took it on trade for another car. When I got it the 16g was already on it, along with the FMIC and the turbo-back exhaust. The only problems are it runs rich, and the clutch will need to be replaced before racing it. The clutch is fine for dd. Oh, and the a/c is gone and the driver's seat has a tear.

So my question is how much would a fair price for this be?

We'll need a little more info, sir.

Milage? Auto, manual, any known issues with accessories? More photos, like under the hood, interior, trunk, etc..., maybe stick your head way up in the rear wheel wells and tell us how bad the rust is under those talon side-skirts. AWD or FWD? It sure looks better than it did.

You could just throw it up on CL for $3K, and see if anyone bites, or put it up on here for "BO", and see what you hear back.
 
I'm not trying to get rich on this, just really don't want to over or under price it.

If I remember right the mileage is like 135k. There is a reciept for an engine replaced in '08, mileage unknown. There is a crack in the lower front windshield about 6 inches long. Manual transmission (thus the clutch going out), and it is AWD. Heat and blower works good. All speakers are hooked up.

Just got a recirculation kit for the HKS BOV. And this isn't Normal, IL. I just moved from there about a year ago. Might have seen my Yellow Daytona Charger (black powder coated wheels). Anyway, no salt here, and this car was from farther south in Tennessee. No, no rust whatsoever. But I haven't gone back and painted the inside of the doors. LOL
