how much is the car, and is the interior in good shape? how many miles are on it, does it have a title? then is the trans and clutch in good shape, is the exterior in good shape, the suspention, axels? when you buy a car you have to look at all those things and you have to have a good, trusty seller just so you dont get the shaft you know what i mean? if you reply can you send me a message.
 
So how much is getting it cheap? I got my 92awd. did a hell of a lot of work to it including new clutch, tranny, transfer case, rear driveshaft. front(both)driveshafts. new WP/timing belt kit. new radiator/ therm. new down pipe, flex.

I've barely got 2,300 hundred in the car after doing all this maintenance. So I say go for it. My car wa a basket case when I got it a few months ago. Last friday I was running against 5.0's at the local track. So I say if you can, DO IT!.:hellyeah:
 
The guy lives kinda far, so I'm wondering what I will need to take with me to do my own inspection on it.

I'm gonna take my compression tester for sure, maybe the guy wasn't doin it correctly, and of course tools, I wanna make sure the timing belt was installed correctly, cause he did it himself.
 
The guys asking price is 800, I haven't seen it yet, but the guy said its very clean inside and out, its red with a black top with tan leather seats. Full interior, no missing panels, has mods as well.

Gm maf, maft 2, full suspension, gauges, turbo timer and some other stuff.

I'm just wondering if its worth the drive to check it, its about 2 hours away.
 
Like others have said before. Sounds like the HG was torqued down enough, warped head, or the rings are shot. Only one way really to find out..
 
your on ladsm also correct? you wanted to buy my engine i sold last night. Hit me up on the ladsm forum and ill give you the run down on his car. He's a buddy of mine but he doesnt know what the hell he is doing for the life of him.

His tensior was shot i told him to replace it. He said no its fine. Drove it 2 miles timing belt jumped. He had a complete 6 bolt sitting in the garage so he took the head off that engine and threw it on his. 1. the pistsons have alot of damage imo i thought they should be replaced. 2. I asked him if he machined the head before putting it on? And he said no and i just started laughing at him. 3. He also asked me if it was ok to reuse the headgasket? And i told him no friggen way. Im unsure if he attempted reusing the headgasket. Anyhow hit me up on ladsm and i can give you more info.
 
1990 Talon TSI AWD. over 200K on the body but its pretty descent. under 80K on the motor. the interior is super clean. car runs good. jst had a ECU rebuild and all the old crappy caps are gone. all 4 tires are brand new. The car is all stock. maintenance is super kept up. i would like to get 2000 to 2500 for it. am i asking to much?
 
2500 is a bargain. I sold my summer project last year ('92 Talon AWD) for 3K and it wasn't near as good as that. When I say I sold it, what I mean is I listed it on Craigslist and it was gone in 15 minutes. I had over 30 replies with the ad just being up a little over a hour in Indy. The guy even paid me an extra hundred to hold it for him until he got to my house. I'd toss it up for 3K OBO myself :D On a side note, I paid $500 for the same car a few months before I sold it. All it needed was tires and the gas changed out, along with normal stuff you'd do to a car sitting for 7 years.
 
Im thinking about buying a 95 GSX.

Heres what the guy has to say about it...

1995 eclipse GS-X: 67xxx miles with '94 6bolt engine swap. Engine was rebuilt just before I bought the car. Big Evo3 turbo ported and polished. 3in exhaust turbo back. 18in Kobe wheels, new tires 225/40ZR18 NEXEN N3000, Apex-i fuel controller, Greddy turbo timer, boost guage, oil pressure guage, Black leather seats, cone intake filter, Walbro fuel pump. Koni lowering springs, 1999 Eclipse body kit and lights, Act 2600 clutch (needs installed). New transfer case from Mitsubishi, new fluid transfer case, trany, and rear end. Greddy upper intercooler piping, Greddy Type-s blow-off valve, Greddy boost controller. Needs starter and speed sensor.


ALTHOUGH, Im really hesitant to buy because of said reliability issues. Absolutely everyone I talk to about it says its not worth it. Regardless of whats already been replaced...
I am willing to spend only so much money on keeping the car running...

Your better off finding another non molested car to play with. Listen to your friends and its just plain not worth it. Also if your still going to talk to him ( I assume you will we all would) I would tell him you want reciepts. Dont tell him over the phone ask for them when you get there because anyone can make Reciepts.

Tell him you want to do a compression check. check for leaks do a blt.

Drive the car go in a big empty parking lot and do very sharp turns both left and right at slow speeds. listen for noises. as your driving take your hands off the wheel a bit to see if it drives strait. test the clutch and see if it slips.

back to reciepts I have most of mine I have lost some but I dont plan on selling the car.

Hes asking 5500 OBO and hes putting in the starter and speed sensor on wednesday without raising the price. I think im going to offer 4750 and hope to negotiate around 5K.
Im just worried Im going to be stranded on the side of the road with not enough money to fix anything.

I dont have any picture for you guys, sorry... Just give me the advice you can.
As for the bolts at the flywheel, I can ask him, he could have made a mistake.

Wow, 5500 is a complete rip. You can buy an unmolested 95 GSX cheaper or a clean 97-99 (2gb) for that price.

Don't worry about the mods, they won't mean anything to you. Buy a stock car and put whatever you want in with your own hands. :hellyeah:

Might I ad, this is not my first rodeo with a turbo car... I know what the mods are.
I have yet to find a better deal though...

I know what he was talking about, I'm not a retard. I was actually referring to what fuel injectors they are controlling.

Waiting for the :aha: moment...

Considering the mods, I would say the guy is ###### just tunning blind and dumping more fuel into the motor to run more boost. But who's to say he was GOING to buy injectors but decided to sell. He has a ton of Name Brand parts... did you actually go and check to see if all those mods were legit? I would, especially the Koni's. And if you do the compression test, have them do a diagnostic test, drive the car, go into WOT, check for Boost leaks, oil leaks ALL LEAKS and if everything is good... I would say GO FOR IT. Sometimes there are honest people who are sick of these cars. Hahaha, I havent quit yet. My poor baby just got towed away to the shop today on a flat bad. Saddest thing ever...:cry:

But for real. my buddy just bought a 95 GSX 5 sp for 2500, My other freind got a 97 gst spyder for 3200 and i bought my GSX for 4400 with under a 100k...

Im am an honest person but i know unhonest people who sell DSM's and they roll the clock back.. I think it takes him about 30 minutes to do it... 60k on a 95 gsx??? come on now...

That is an ebay turbo, BIG EVO 3 16g PORT and POLISHED LOL... Mine came in a package that said the same thing...

Id say wait till an old guy that bought his 1998 TSi AWD from the factory decides to sell it and pick it up.

My buddy who bought the GSX had a MINT 97 TSi AWD that he got from a guy who ordered it.. 113k miles with reciepts for gas and oil changes since day 1. BONE STOCK 4500 dollars...
