So, would i be able to upon a test drive? I think the seats and wing is alright... i mean it could be worse

From that ad I would say no. Putting a wing and seats make it seem like hes one of those people who beat on their car(in my opinion). You say no mods? Looks like hes got at least an exhaust. Theres not much info listed in the ad but if you really like it go check it out in person and take a test drive and report back.

I paid $3500 for mine bone stock clean as hell except the clear fading and was driven by a 60 some year old lady, awd 5 speed. I waited a long time to find the right deal and drove 6 hours to get it but it was well worth it! I think that is a deal as long as there is nothing wrong with it. Find a local kid that knows DSM's well and have him go look at it with you so you don't overlook any common DSm problems or any other obvious problems.

Looks like a nice car, although pictures can be very deceiving! In order to better prepare yourself be sure to look at some of the threads on "what to look for when buying a dsm."

With regards to the wing and gauges, I would say that might be a positive thing, if the guy only riced it up and did not get into doing any major engine mods he might have been one of those people who is a "all show, with no desire to go." On the contrary be sure to look for questionable things such as a MBC or something of the such, someone like this might also be the person who would throw a MBC on, turn it all the way up and beat around town. :nono:

Good luck with the purchase man! :talon::thumb:

I am looking into getting into the DSM game. I have ad a few cars in te past, mostly Camaro's. Last year i wrecked my pride and joy, 1999 black Camaro SS (it wasn't my fault). I have been driving a Honda around since, and it really isn't fun at all.

I am starting to save up for a Talon (I think they look the best), and started looking at some cars on craigslist to get an idea of prices. I found one for $1700, but the guys listing said that he was open to trade for a Honda. I talked to him about it, and he is interested in trading for my car. There are a few things that it needs. Here is the link:

90 talon TSI AWD.eclipse/laser

I was just wondering if anyone on here could give me a heads up on how much it would be to finish it, and where the best place to get the parts is.

It doesnt look that bad. I would want to know why it needs new injectors? But thats it looks like a good deal.

Pictures look good. I would do a very close check at everything, frame, floors, firewall, wheelwells. Check everything close for rust, holes.. If the motor needs work, there a dime a donzen. So if you have a nice frame it would worth a good look. Having it run would just be a bonus!:p

I just have a little 88 Civic Sedan. Its not in bad shape.

The guys said that someone told him the injectors were bad. I guess when it is cold it takes a couple of tries to get it started. He said when its is hot out, or when the car is warmed up it runs great.

So i called the guy about the 1995 Eagle Talon TSI, and he said he used it for Stereo competitions. No engine mods. He has only put on a muffler, Blow off Valve, and Racing seats. He says he cant find the back seats because he took them out to put in a stereo. But there is a guy parting his 1995 Talon TSI and says he has both seats in MINT condition. Whats your thoughts on the car, and how much should i offer for the car? What about the seats? What are those worth?

It doesn't look too bad, it looks unmolested and the price isn't bad. If you are planning on looking at it I would do a compression test on it and see if the motor needs serious work. Other than that some time and maybe a few hundred if that it should be running great for you.

Yes sir she looks solid..For a solid 90 thats a good deal. Now for the tranny and such, either you can rebuild or just buy one from another member, then actually build that one and drop it back in. As to the injectors, just upgrade and get new rail injectors and a fuel pump. One more thing...Do you have another vehicle to drive just in case???

Whats nice is I carpool, so i don't have to have a totally reliablecar right now. But just in case, I want a car that I can drive if the need arises.

Ok so get the rail the pump and the injectors..Get a buddy to post in the want to buy section for another tranny. trade the car and swap all of the stuff in a weekend and there you go!!!! should be pretty freakin reliable, and powerful. Good enough for us..Ohh ask the guy when the last time the timing belt, and water pump were changed. About every 60K is when these need to be changed. You can get that stuff from checker or advance for under $200. Maybe throw in a head gasket if the guy is really not sure, but perform a leakdown test to make sure you need to.

Every 60k the timing belt needs to be changed? I thought the mileage span was a bit larger than that.

that guy has had nothing but problems with that car.
Hes a local guy, knows who I am, were even friends on myspace. Numerous times I saw him ranting about that car when he was trying to get it running for himself.

He wanted a DSM bad, and now hes selling it?
Wierd.

He's on tuners here somewhere, so ask for the DSMTunrers.com discount! haha

Hey Zak, thanks a bunch for the heads up.

I guess te best thing to do is save up te cash, sell my car, and get one that is in good shape.

You get what you pay for. Keep that in mind....

Yes you do..You really get what you pay for when dealing in dsm's..You can buy them cheap, but that means some money will have to go into them. So if you save up and spend a little more. you will really be happy with your purchase!!!:thumb::dsm::talon::laser:
