So I think I'm going to sell my car and I would like your alls opinions on what I should price it at and what I should expect to get out of it.

Its a 1998 Eclipse GSX and it has 133k on the clock.

The good:

Fresh engine, it has 170ish compression on all 4 cyllinders, not sure how many miles on it though

New timing belt, balance shaft belt, all pulleys
New water pump
New alternator

16g turbo
boost controller
boost guage
k&n filter
3" apexi turbo back
upgraded clutch, not sure which, probably 2600 or equivalent
lowered
17" adr wheels
tinted windows
excellent paint except for the front
very clean interior

The Bad:

3rd is sometimes hard to shift into, doesnt grind, but it takes a bit to get it to go in sometimes
the 16g turbo is blown
the clutch makes a squeaking noise in the process of releasing it, usually only when it has just been started up
the a/c makes this clicking noise, but still works
the front bumper and hood would probably need to be repainted depending on how picky you are about your paint

And here are some pictures:

I'm thinking I'm going to ask about 6000 for it, If I can get 5500 out of it I'll be happy.

Am I asking too little or too much, or is that just about right?

Someone is selling a 97 gst with 96,xxx on the clock and he is saying that the car has a spun bearing. I have a video of the motor running. It is running open o2 housing for god knows why in the video thats why it sounds the way it does.

His quotes:

"some smoke out of the exhaust and it just has an immense lack of power, not a boost leak or anything"

"the car will run and idle but it breaks up around 4k"

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!!

Okay, so i bought a 1996 Talon TSi AWD a year or so back, it was an auto and i was saving up the parts and money to swap it to a manual....but last week i let my cousin take it to the store because his car was "broke"......he completely totaled it(he wasn't hurt or anything). But i found another one:D. Its a 1991 Tsi awd, the man whose selling it is claiming 320+whp and saying its tuned conservatively. Im a bit sketchy on buying a modded car and just wanted some opinions, thanks.

p.s. ill try to get some pics of the car up so you guys can see it.

Doesn't sound like spun bearing to me, There would be some serious rod knock if that were the case. Sounds like open down pipe or. Check the oil to see if you see metal shavings in it. or just drop the pan since its a gst and theres no transfercase in the way.

he does have all the paper work for the mods...he didn't really say what was done to the car...LOL, i meant to ask him but im offshore on a oil platform and don't get a whole lot of time to hang around. I will be test driving the car sometime this week or next week. According to the man that owns it he swapped the engine, new one has 10,000KMs and a rebuilt tranny. He also said that he had the body rebuilt from the ground up, has 200k on body.....hes asking 4,500 btw.

he's probably running it open like that so you cant hear the rod knock? i cant hear a knock at all..my friend had a spun bearing in his gsr..twice and that knocked like a mother. and yeah im comparing a honda to a dsm but still..knock is knock..

I Kid you not I had my altnator bearings go bad and they sounded like that.

I'm currently looking at a 99GST with ~110k. It comes with a BOV and Turbo Timer otherwise it's on stock motor and seems well mechanically. The only bad seems to be the paint which is fading really badly so if I do purchase, I will definitely have to bring it to a paint shop. I was going to offer in the ranges of $3800-$4500... do you think that's too low or too high?

Thanks a lot.

Jump on it!:thumb:! If he has all the paperwork and seems knowledgeable on what was done to the car I'd be all over that! Just remember you can never ask too many questions !
