Alright guys i have been holding off on asking this cause i didnt know if it was a good idea to post this question but here goes.

What should i buy with my tax return? I am getting back about 1200 for my one job so thats what im using on my car.

I have a 96 awd

mods include

e316g turbo
Magnus smim
3in turbo back exhaust
6 bolt rebuilt engine with 5000 miles on it
Arp kit
Multi layer head gasket
Valve job along with various small engine tweaks
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
Act 2600
Shep trans getting done at this moment because reverse was gone one day for no reason.
Filled engine mounts
Currently ebay front mount with my custom piping an a turbo xs bov , thats all going to be scrapped cause i hate it so leave the front mount out of the equation cause i have a good one coming

My personal thoughts. I understand the engines are good for about 400 hp the way mines set up with stock internals an a arp kit an all that, im going for 400 hp or so but not over night i know the turbo will limit this but im not using my tax return on the turbo because this one has a little more room to grow. I want to do body work but the car looks okay for now so im not using this money for that, I have a set of 97 eclipse wheels an i love them plus there light so im not getting rid of those any time soon, anything else im open to suggestions to i have an idea of what i should get but i wanted some solid opinions.

I would say fuel upgrades (injectors, pump, pump rewire, and FPR) and a way to start tuning would be a start. With that you should see a pretty noticeable difference with the 16g and with more fuel you will be able to turn up your boost. But before you can go with any bigger turbo with will definately need to supply more fuel than what the stock injectors are providing.

Yeah you def. need a fuel pump.

Yeah but i have tried the numbers an i dont think i will be able to get all this stuff new for the cash flow i have, the dsm link v3, injectors, gm mas, an fpr, i think i have a walbro in the garage but not sure, an ill be honest i dont know what size injectors to go with ive looked around but not set on a specific.

You don't have to get dsmlink just get a chip from Jeff-O. A chip with a rebuilt eprom ecu is like $300, just tell him all your mods and he'll set it up for you. And if you ever upgrade injectors or such he'll burn you another chip for $20.

As for injectors I'd go with at least 750's. Bigger if you want to someday upgrade to e-85. (I think jeff can set that up too)

Does he sell rebuilt eproms? That would be kick ass cause then hunting one down wont be a problems. Thats not a bad idea an then when i do have the cash to buy the link i can upgrade cause i already have the eprom ecu. So you think 750s at least maybe 850s or so? We dont have e 85 here but i do have sunoco 94 :)

Also if i wanted to get ahold of this Jeff O how would i go about doing that?

Yes he does sell rebuilt eproms, and here's his website, Welcome! . But it's down at the moment, try it tomorrow. The plus of the chip is that you don't really have to do any tuning, it's just plug and play.

Hey man the easiest why to get a hold of jeff is email this is his email address... [email protected] ...great guy and service ...i purchased a chip ecu combo from him and i love it ...he compensates for bigger injectors and there is a bunch of options to chose as well ...the only thing to do is really to fine tune the A/F ratio to maximize power with a fuel controller ..i use a translator and a S-AFC ...:D :talon:

you can get a maft for 200$(get a gm mafs form the junkyard) 750cc injectors for less then 300$ a wally 255 is what 90$? you can get a whole afpr kit for like 230$ then you will be in an entirely different ball game, and that leaves you with quite a bit of extra cash (for repairs? LOL)

Put it in the bank if you aren't living with your parents. Now is a horrible time to drop $1200 on a car just for mods.

I have two jobs cheif this is play cash im perfectly capable of handling my finances, i will never be without a job my aunts a carrier consultant an can have a job for me at anytime plus im not afraid to work hard. Alright thanks for all the help guys. I think i really want the dsm link v3 cause you dont need a maft translator if im correct on this an i really would like to get rid of that random misfire from having a six bolt swap, any agree?

I agree with everyone saying DSMLINK! Would be the single best mod you could do for that car. V2 or 3 your call.
As for Fuel. Toss a set of 850's on there with a wally 255(rewired), a decent FPR and call it a day.
This will allow you to start playing around with E-85 mix's also ;)

My bad, do what you like.

I love these threads........I am in the same boat as you im thinking if i should put some money into this vr4 or GSX that i just bought.

so that time of year has come around again, but this years a little different, i am now the proud owner of a 95 gsx, as of now i am going to order a greddy type rs bov(plan on venting to aptnosphere), ssac 3" full turboback exhaust, injen intake, megan racing strut tower brace, clear bumper lights, hks turbo timer & harness, and i think thats about it, its about $1125 worth of parts and i was just wondering if its gonna be a worthwhile investment on my way to 400awhp...

if you vent that bov you will need an maft set up at least. you cant vent with stock set up and hard pipes. your car will most likely run like poop due to the mas reading before the bov recirc so it takes the air being recirced in account. if that air is not there then the car will not run right. just go to lowes and get some vacuum hose and clamp it. trust me you will still hear it.

If you just purchased the car, you should first get any and all maintenance done before adding new parts. :thumb:
I would highly recommend recirculating the BOV as well(from personal experience when I was new to dsm's), so make sure you get the injen intake that is for stock BOV in order to be able to do this. As far as the parts, the BOV, intake, and exhaust are the basics to get everything started. You could also port your O2 housing yourself, or for pretty cheap at a local shop.
You may want to also check out the upgrade paths here as well for more direction!

You do have quite a ways to go before getting 400awhp, but definately attainable.
Welcome to the dsm world and I hope your build goes well!

EDIT: Just found this on the vendors section for the injen intake pipe. Great deal! http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/322918-clearance-2g-injen-intake-2g-maf-filter-adapter-both-like-new.html
