if your realy going to do this then get rid of anything that you dont need to make the legal to enter the dray way. carpets,seats,(dash?),spare tire,sound dampers,plastic from the wheel wells. Remove the hood if they will let you. then get some cheep flex hose and put the air filter outside of the bay. remove the headlights. if it has weight and will not help you go faster then get rid of it.

boost controler is a must have and 3in turbo back. fill the nos cuss you will need it. get a min of 112 octane. then turn your boost up to 24-27psi. they pray to god and then dumpit at 6Krpmand hope to god that you win.

also get a video camera and get us a video of it.

Your a dumbass, get your facts straight before you talk sh*t.

No where did I say that all of those parts were from the same car...he used all stock parts, but took them off of different cars and modded them.

Well this post is sure popular. South Butler is only a 1/10t mile because it failed at the 1/8yh mile which was after cars got quicker and when they dissapeared in the dip 3/4ts of the way down the track kinfolk got worried. That and the 200ft stoping distane at the end. didn't have roundup back then and the dandylions were tough. In their peak we could not discern the edge of the track. The best stratedgy here would be to drive into his lane real quick and scare him off the throttle. Just kidding but since this is a hot spot on tuners can someone tell me what brand name/vendor of the drivers sie slimline I will need to mount a 50 trim on my '93 Talon?
I raced on Butler when it was a 1/4 miler. There is NO TECH inspection. Mark

if your talking about any car in general then its no big deal, there are tons of setups you u can do with interchangebal parts and cars
for an example u can put a 4g63 in a colt and run 12's with barely ne thing done
 
IMO, it's a waste of money if you're gonna part the car out when you're done. Why don't you just sell it?
You know, 1G dsm's don't grow on trees. If i can go to a salvage yard with over 100,000 cars and only find about 3 turbo dsm's, then i wouldn't waste a perfectly good car. Hell, when you're done with it, take off all of the parts you put on it and i'll take it off of your hands.

LOL, I think there's no way you're going to win. Your only chance is if he runs crappy tires. A powerful RWD car with good tires can pull 60' times just as good or better as a less powerful AWD car.

Take all the weight off that you can, get the best launch you can (and hope nothing breaks), use as high octane as possible with lots of boost, and try to tweak everything that's cheap or free (do a lot of custom stuff). It doesn't have to be street legal, does it? There's plenty of things you can do then. Rather than replacing the exhaust, take off the exhaust (part of it) for example. Take off everything you can to save weight.

Aren't clubs supposed to be a group of people with a common goal? Like to preserve, restore, modify and enhance the driving pleasure of a fun automobile.
I think he's going to lose but HE SHOWS COURAGE AND A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR BESIDES. I commend him for that. He will learn something from the experience. It's almost a shame that so many of these DSM's are available because anyone with a few thousand can get one and do some easy mods and go fast so with so many available there are bound to be a larger number of backbiters.

How about the guys in central/western NY how up that day and suport our comrade and perhaps put down some times that do beat this 500HP Camino? Perhaps the site of a couple dozen DSM's would make a statement.Mark
 
Rip out the whole inside..uhh. fab a very thin fiber hood and hatch(use the stock ones for a template) just for aerodynamic purposes..and "doors" maybe cut off the top instead OMG . Your up against a crazy odds. This might sound screwy but If you wanna win you have to reduce the weight of that car as much as humanly possible and play the Power to weight ratio game..it doesn't have to last too long. strip out any AC stuff don't run a belt to the PS pump. remove the balance shafts.
REMOVE the exhaust.

uhh maybe go on a diet and fast for a week before the race :p
remove the stock gas tank and get a small little tank that hold just enough gas and use race gas.

Every tiny bit counts. As for engine mods i guess read up a bit and decide what is most cost effective according to what you got..NOS i'm guessing would be a good one..umm you can DIY a cheap azz water injection system if your intake temps are too high because the stock smic isn't all that great.

good luck..but...I hope you've figured out what size miniskirt you wear:) because it doesn't look good if you only have $500..just the afc you'd need to tune is expensive.
 
I think im a size 6... I have been practicing my launching a little (with car bone stock), the clutch has been holding fine, and you have to remeber this guy has a TRUCK!! how much traction can he get, i dump it at 3500 and go, that could mean a second right there!

i want the car to look stock outside, other than the pas. side headlight im going to hack up for air intake. The interior will be gutted! just a drivers seat and the dash will remain, im looking for a cheap fuel cell so that i can lose the big tank and run the exhaust right from the engine to the rear (you cant run hacked exhaust, it has to leave the outside of the car) i also talked to a friend who is making me a nice tubular 02 housing so that i dont boost creep the car to destruction. 2.5 inch down, 1.5 inch dump (re-circ) to 3 inch str8 back, maybe to a muffler depending on funds left. I will be buying $40 worth of 114 oc fuel. im working on 2.5 inch ic pipes with a highly modified smic that will me mounted upfront, everything will be wraped in 1/8x2 header wrap. After dark im going to vent the bov when racing the civics and neons (throw a nice flame when shifting and rev :D ) so far i havnt spend a whole lot of money. Im still waiting for some trick advice :thumb:
 
I would not bother to change the fuel tank. It's a hassle and it's only about a 12 gallon tank and tanks are light. Run 24 PSI boost, no muffler just a straight pipe. Gut the car, do the ram air thing with the passenger side light. If you had controlled NOX, like from 3K to 6K that would possibly get you a win.
As it is light weight, race gas and high boost are good. I might be able to tune the car for you. I'm in Auburn, where are you? Is this car street legal? I would not worry about boost creep with the 14B or modding the 02 housing other than porting it. The tuning with the race gas or any gas is critical.mark

the car is street legal and i have a dealer plate to use (my dads from the car dealership) maybe we can hook up, i forget exaclty when the race is but i have the driveshaft out of the car right now to change a rear U-joint. the car has 16" steel wheels and 205-55-16 tires (not sure what brand) the rear are a somewhat performance model, should i try to get my hands on a different tire or will those work? Also i want to drop the tank so that i can run the exhaust right out the middle of the rear bumper, but im not sure on that yet, a fuel cell means waisted money
