I have a '99 GS. My enigne siezed up last summer and i am in the market for a new motor. I have $2500 to spend on all of this. I could spend about $1200 (including labor)and drop a 420A motor in it again, or go a different route. What is that route? I would really like to get more power. Can i do a turbo motor swap on my budget? I will have to spend on labor... but it will be cheaper for i know the guy. Thanks guys. Dave

Um no you couldn't afford to swap a turbo engine in there b/c everything on the turbo engine is 180 degree's in the wrong direction I believe..the cost would be waaayyy over your budget and not worth it.

how much would it cost to do something like this... and how much power would i get out of that.... is the money worth it? After reading all the posts there have been on the whole N/t to turbo swapping, i think i'm gonna stick with a GS motor. Heck with the 1000 bucks i have left i'll just do koni adjustables with H&R's.

Graduation money is coming in, parents said it will be about $1100. So, check out the mod list in my sig....yes, pretty hefty...but no exhaust or fmic. So thats what Im going to try and get. I want an o2 eliminator downpipe running open, and a fmic...can 1100 get me both? I'm gonna try and find a used downpipe because I dont feel like spending almost 500 for a fricken downpipe. Like Maybe 300 for the downpipe, and that gives me 800 to get hooked up with the extremepsi intercooler I want. And then I get $300 worth of gifts from my parents...so I'm looking at a logger with all the cables or a greddy profec B EBC...

damnit, so many decisions...haha I could always just hook up my car with a phat set of rims..

I would think that you are making a wise decision.

You won't get a nice FMIC and Dp for 1100.

A nice FMIC is going to run ya at least 900.

Maybe... Depends on which one he gets...

Theres a few for less than $1,000 I think...
Those looks nice but I don't know myself personally.

The DP your gonna see rnr or just get a o2 housing and port it. Then upgrade downpipes later-on. :)

If you don't have a logger already, then definitely get one. A PDA and appropriate software is a cheap way to go.

I would get a O2 eliminator turboback exhaust. RnR racing has them for a very nice price.

I would also go with a bigger IC. A supra SMIC can be had for very cheap. With some slight modifications you should be able to do just fine with a bigger SMIC unless you plan on getting a bigger turbo at some point, then you may want to go with an FMIC.

As well, I am surprised no one has recommended a heartier clutch. My ACT2100 is wonderful. It made a world of difference over the stocker. An ACT2600 might be more appropriate for you because you are probably making more power than me.

Greddy XL FMIC and hard pipe kit, less than $1100 from extremepsi. That'd be where my money goes :thumb:

Greddy :thumbdown

Who wants 30 feet of extre IC pipe across the front of IC blocking flow to it.

Worst FMIC design ever.

Very true, I didn't notice that wasn't in the mod list.

:( Dam 1g's!

I didn't recommend a clutch or fuel adjustment/tuning mods because he seemed like he wants to find a FMIC or DP over anything else. So thats why I was saying those items because it seems like what he wants to do next.

If he wants to teardown into the tranny I would tell him to honestly get a
act2600 + recondition flywheel + sybroski shift kit + ss tranny line.

That's my opinion if he wants to do drivetrain.

I figured that the engineers at Greddy would have thought of a better way to do that. I would like to see the difference, in feet, from the Greddy pipping and short route.

I'd be happy to measure my short-route piping from my AGP FMIC and someone can measure there Greddy.

Also the main thing is the fact the greddy runs across the front of core.

Well, im selling my sub system piece by piece, and i've got 800$ coming in, 200$ in which is going towards a MAF-T (i got the blowthru and 3"gm maf sitting at my house) now my question is, what should i spend 600$ on? mods are in my profile, and i havent seen anything that needs to replaced except my radiator, its got about 90% of its fins still intact but i dont know if its safe. should i get a new radiator? also, what are some good brands and some prices, the only one i know of is the fluidyne for ~350$. any suggestions would be appreciated. also, i only have a 2.5" turbo back and my friend has a mandrel bender, welders, and anything you can think of. you think it would be a good time to go 3"? (magnaflow muffler (or some melon shooter with a 3" inlet), hi-flow cat) he could build the entire setup from turbo back, if i provide flex , muffler, and cat. oh yeh, and one other thing... since i'm going for a blow-thru setup, i'd have to switch out my Dejon tool intake (made for 2g MAF) so what intake should i get, and i would prefer if i could keep my k&n if thats feasible.
