By the way.... that Cobra was previously owned by a friend who knows how to build and modify cars. It was replaced by a Viper GTS with a many mods already and more to come. Did I mention the twin turbo NSX he has, or the Saleens, probably not the Syclone(not Cyclone) with over 600whp? Oh well....

Alright now there... Lets not have anyone tell me I am hating mustangs just "because", and I have no reasons why I... yes why I, dont like them.

Quality - the build between a 99 eclipse and a 99 mustang seems comparable. I have a few friends with mustangs and fords. They are neither neons, nor BMWs. Somewhere in between as far as general quality construction, same as a 99 eclipse.

Speed - the cobra will beat a gsx, but at slightly higher base cost. Add a few thousand in upgrades to the dsm and the power to price ratio is comparable. We wont factor in the lower trim models in this conversation.

So far they seem about the same. If you want a fast STOCK (non modded) car, and $ is no prob. at this point the mustang looks a bit better.

So that left one thing for me to decide on. I am a graphic designer by trade, and I make purchaces more often that not on how a product is designed. I know some people dont care about design, and yes the mustang looks pretty good, but IMO, the 97-99 dsms are an amazing piece of artwork. ( hence my sig ) The flowing sexy lines. The beautiful front bumper design just begging for a front mount. The car looks like a porsche. I love cars that look like the dsm. Take a 911, 350Z, supra, and 2g dsm and line them up... what do you have? Cars with a similar body build THAT I LOVE. Recent mustangs have adopted the "stealth bomber" paneling look. Whatever, doesnt do much for me. You like it, good for you. Thats why you own a mustang, and I am on the DSMtuners board. I wont even begin on the interior.... So I bought an eclipse.

As has been discussed on this board and many others, it is VERY common practice to turbocharge the already superharged '03-'04 Cobras. The supercharger is 'gutted' and they use it as an upper plenum, and then turbocharge the car. Before you go rolling your eyes like a know-it-all please do some research, or at least some mild reading.

As for you, that's fine! I agree with this statement 100%. There is no problem having an opinion, and backing it up with a reason WHY you feel that way. We aren't talking about people like you. If you dislike the styling, no amount of 'proving you wrong' is going to change your opinion. But for the people that say 'Mustang's suck!' "Why do they suck?" 'They just do, I hate them!' That is ridiculous. That is a person that is not only uneducated, but is SO stupid in fact that they can't even think enough on their own to justify their own personal views and beliefs. There is a BIG difference there.

Thats because theyre few and far between. The only turbo'd 03 ive seen has been X2C motorsports car. The costs and loss of streetability keep most cobra owners from going that route.

These svt cobras are the shit, the only thing I have against doemstics is the damn interiors, they make them look so plain, even on a pricey car liek this, you see the a/c knobs and switches are so damn plain its just ugly , you look at any import-based car and you notice that the console doesnt look like its crappping itself. Just wanted to point it out.

I agree that the interiors are boring, but i kind of like it that way. I dont need flashy metal pieces, wood grain, dvd, etc etc, the car is meant for one thing, going fast. I figure, the more plain the interior, the less distractions i have when racing. If i had a mercedes then id want every electronic gizmo they can cram in there, hahahahaha.

Yeah.... the actual text indicates that the valve covers were only removed for powdercoating, though.

uhhh, yeah i feel kind of awkward posting in this thread, as there are 2 (two) Z28s sitting in my garage right now, the best years too, a 1969, and a 2002. Props to the original poster for making his ford appear more sexy than the black Z28 with 5,600 miles on it.
