i'd rather have a 4-cylinder beating an 8 than an 8 beating a 4.

Daddy bought a fast car, that took alot of skill. I don't know, there is something about building my car that makes me happy, wait i know, i made it fast not FORD.

I can see your point...but what about the people who mod/tune Cobras to have double or triple the stock horsepower?? No respect for them, just because they started out with a blown V8 from the factory??
 
sorry if i came off wrong, but i have no problem with people that actually put wrench time in there car, i'm talking about people that think they are the shit with there straight from the factory bought power. But i would still personally rather build my Talon, or even for the same amount of money have an evo. just from what i've seen, most people that are on the streets with the mustangs/ trans ams, have straight pipes if anything... not much more than mr. & mrs johnson down the street...
 
Hmm, last time I checked I had a heavily modded dsm too there chief. And ya, like a_scobel said, we're going to do the same thing with this that I did to the dsm, mod it. It's just that modding this car is going to net us easily over 600whp. Think what you wish, but your argument is flawed.

if you posted late then maybe when you edited you should have taken out the i'm macho stuff and left it in your bedroom in your parents house "chief"...

Hate to break it to ya bud, but 390HP from the factory is nothing to scoff at. Sure, it might not be "the shit", but its enough to blow most other cars off the road.
As for most mustangs running around with just a loud exhaust, id have to agree with you. But, cobra owners are usually a different story. 03/04 guys who havent already chipped/pullied their cars are just itching to do so. As for the 01 and older models, most of those guys are heading down the supercharged/turbocharged route. Dont lump cobra owners in with "most mustangs", were HP junkies just like most of the people on here, we just chose to go about getting our fix with a V8.
 
it's still from the factory, you didn't make that power. now if your moding it then fine... no problem here. only when your walking around like Vin Disel with your bought car that has the exact same mods as the other one across the street... none. your not braking anything to me...you like what you like i like what i like. i'm just puting in my opinion like it or not.
 
I completely understand what you're saying now man. At first I just thought you were trying to rip on the car in general but I get it. It already has exhaust, x-pipe, CAI, and I'm about to order a pulley and chip :).
 
i'd take one.....I'd still be able to mod it which makes it ok in my book. :thumb: :D
 
i'm not saying that it's not a nice car, it's fast and clean, but i'm into my Impestic DSM... :thumb:

just don't run into me on the streets so i don't have to waste my gas... :p :)

good luck with the mods and don't forget about the DSM, she has feeling you know...
 
ya the new ones are definately nothing to mess with, I rode in my friends 99' z28 that had exhaust/headers/intake/and a 100 shot and we raced an 03 cobra on the highway.stayed right with him all the way up to about 125 when he let off. i dont know if the cobra was modded or not but my friends camaro put down 417 to the wheels so that thing was quick to keep up with him.

consistantly there is maybe 2 or 3 street driven dsms in the phoenix area that have 13 second or faster time slips to prove it and one of those people might be on this board.

You obviously don't know Pete W. He owns a red 97 GSX? that i think currently can run consistant high 11's if the track let him? And i'm pretty sure my freind Mlopez could do that easily now on his built AWD Spyder. Ever heard of AGP turbo? I'm pretty sure I know alot of people that come out of that shop running something better than a 13.8, That number remind you of something? hmmm, thought so.

Any ford we have had has had minor problems. My dad's Crown vic (92) made it to 192k without doing ANY repairs except for a water pump I believe. Car still going strong with my uncle who drives on dirt roads to work every day.

I think some of you need to get over your "Ya but it's a Ford" deal and realize it isn't as bad as you think. And if you haven't driven one then you shouldn't talk.

My Mustang is over 17 years old, and I've had NO problems with it. It ingests 150HP shots of nitrous from time to time, takes sweeping on and off ramps at break neck speeds, endures the fun of RWD powerslides from time to time, gets raced occasionally at the track, and most important and strenuous of all, serves as my daily driver. It has never given me a problem. To the Ford haters 'just because' save some of the money you are using to get undercar neon for your maad tyte import yo to buy a clue.
