Straight from the streets of California. Complete with an underbody partially working neon kit. Warped and rattle can painted body kit, awsome blue graphics, 100% unique interior sticker kit included, and an engine that goes cold to overheated in 3.4 minutes, I present to you:

MY NEW USED 1996 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GSX!!:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

So i got a gsx, picked it up for 1k. Not the best running or looking GSX, by far, but for 1k, clean title, can hardly pass it up. The engine was rebuilt and has 50k miles on it, but it over heats and smokes after about 3 mins. White smoke comes form the exhaust and the engine bay, so I am betting on crack in the block or a blown head gasket.

I am looking to do an engine swap from a 98 GSX with a built engine and also take the buscher racing transmission out of the 98 and swapping it all into the 96. Once that is complete, tune it up and hopefully I am driving a nicely built GSX. I'll let you know how it goes, for now, enjoy the before pictures, i got some work ahead of me to "de-rice" it a bit, like for instance, the day i got the car, the only thing i did to it was take out those god dam blue interior stickers, god..

Cheers!

I'll get more pics up after i get done redoing the interior this weekend, already redid the DVD player which was litterally masking tapped to where it is sitting int he picture, with an extra screw on my center console that did.. nothing to my knowledge.. and the equalizer had screws on the side of it so it wouldn't fall back behind the center console LOL. This guy was special, to say the least.

Here, check this link out & see what you think:

http://www.automotivearticles.com/AWD_Conversion.shtml

Haven't read it for awhile but from what I remember, there is only minimal welding involved, & most of the pieces are just bolt in. It seems from everyone who has done it, nothing about the swap is all that difficult, it just takes some time. But if you already have time invested in your GST & its a better platform to start with, IMO that would seem the better route.

well as long as alignment is not an issue, and if i can tell the smog guy hey i am AWD not front wheel liek you think the computer is telling you and I can smog the car, i am down. 1k for a FMIC, bigger turbo, and other goodies like AWD, the GST is A LOT BETTER body condition than the GSX. I'll show my friends and see if they think it looks easy enough.

I care not what happens, I just want the AWD :p

fine fine, AWD swap happening this weekend, guess I go back to posting on my GST build up topic? hehe I'll let you know how it turns out. The welding required is minimal, so It should be ok;I can't wait for AWD, especially with this rain!

Im sorry to put doubts in your head about converting your gst to a gsx but isnt your gst your daily driver? I think you may go over your weekend time limit if you try to do a awd conversion for the first time. I would rather put a motor in than do the conversion in your situation. Ive been watching your posts and you are still pretty fresh at all this.

Well I'd have to say that you definately "stole" that GSX from the buyer.:thumb: Theres no way in hell that you can pick up a junker shell for even that much. Yeah, maybe theres a decent amount of work to be done to make it something that's street worthy, but it will make for a much more appreciated car when it's all done. Personally, I would first try to get a hold of the people that rebuilt that motor in the first place and aske them questions about the rebuild..... "1.What exactly was replaced 2.What was reused 3.Did they run into any problems with the rebuild 4.Was everything sealed, bolted, clamped properly..etc" And just ask them to be honest about it, tell them that you dont care how exactly that it was rebuilt an that you are just trying to figure out where to start out on your own rebuild. Honestly, if it was my car i would just pull the motor and go over everything very carefully, like ### could it hurt to take the time out and fix the motor thats in it and then wind up with 2 good running cars. I mean in the end its ## choice, but its your "project car" so y not make a long project out of it. Rushing into fixing things just to get them done will only hurt you in the end.:beatentodeath: Besides all that, when i bought my 98 GST, i had to go through the same things as u.. changing interior, engine problems an shit like that. In the end it was all worth it because i had a car that was done the way that i wanted it to be done, and looked clean as all hell.

But good luck to u on ## project(s), keep us all informed. I'm sure watever u decide to do is gonna look badass, I mean come on... There aint many DSM's that dont look good out there!! :dsm:

I was always wondering what happened to your project..

Looks like you gave up on both?

1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST and GSX

Im definately curious about this one also.
He has had enough time to at least figure something out. It would suck something awful if he just gave up on both cars.:notgood: If that is actually him trying to sell both together.
Hopefully he is just in the middle of the project and doesnt have time to do any updates.

Looks like he bought an EVO and gave up on the GST and GSX.

Well this thread is about 2 months old, so im guessing the awd conversion didnt work out for him. But i suppose an EVO would just fix that problem. ROFL

I personally prefer my GSX :D
