OK guys i was at a local car meet here in savannah and there was a 240 with a RB20DET swap in it. so we got to talking and i'm really liking the whole idea of one of the best engines made in one of my favorite cars the 2g eclipse. so we all gather at my house today and started to get things going. you know basic plans where we will have to change up mounts converting it to rear wheel drive. just normal shit. anyway i was wondering if there are any dsm'rs in the savannah Ga area who would like to tag along for the fun. next weekend i will be ordering my own RB20DET also if you have any tips i would be more then happy to hear them we will be recording it day by day and taking pics so i'm going to bring you all along :) anyway msg me or something if you want help out

Good luck with that I just finished helping my friend drop a rb20 into his 240, watch out for the MAF and thermostat housing they tend to mess up / crack a lot. But with a tune and a stock RB you should be pushing around 330 if you just bump the psi to 14 instead of 7. Good luck with it though

ya i heard that about the maf i also heard the rb's overheat alot so a good cooling system will be my first buy after its in

Why spend all of that money on the research, fabrication, parts, etc. when a 4g can be swapped in easily and make great power?

Not saying its not a cool concept, just saying that it seems like alot of work.

i agree with this guy BUT, the whole purpose of his build is to do something different.. i mean really, if you got the time, money and motivation.. u can do anything..

i say the worse idea is the one that never gets heard.

what 2g are u going to up it in? i would think the gsx is a good start being it could easily be rwd anyways.. right?

since when can the 4g63 be swapped into a n/t easily?

I think he means in comparison to the swap he is planning. Yes it is not cos effective or easy to do the 4g63 swap, but I am sure it is easier than putting in a motor that is not even fwd or Mitsubishi. THings like axles and wiring probably can be easier modified on the 4g63.,..

but thats not what he said. OP, good luck with your build and keep everyone posted.

Meh...

After all, a DSM is a good looking fast car (turbo models anyway), and a 240 is a good looking fast car. So, you'll basically end up with... You guessed it; a good looking fast car. I don't see how this makes it so special or worth it. I understand putting a 4G63T in a Dodge colt... As this makes an unsuspectingly fast car.

But I guess I'm just pessimist. Cool that you're trying to be unique... Like everyone else.

Oh, and pictures of progress please... if this ends up in the trash like every other failed attempt it won't surprise me.

im wanting to do a rb20 twin turbo swap on my 96 eclipse as well so maybe we can help each other out

and ### ever u doi man dont give up im not and i hope this dont go bad for ether of us
