Hey, this might sound like a stupid question but I'm not very electronics savvy. When you hook up the voltmeter to pins 1 and 12, what setting should the meter be at? I have options on mine for 10, 30, 100V, also DC or AC.
One more question, when obtaining the code, am I looking for how fast the voltmeter needle moves or how high of a voltage it has?

Thanks for any help and/or insight.

It is a DC signal. Set your meter to 10 or 30 Volts.

You are looking at the "sweep" of the meter. If you are looking at a digital meter (a little less clear) you are looking at the transitions from 0V to Reference Voltage. It does not even matter what the reference voltage is (I believe it's 12 Volts...someone correct me if I'm wrong).... Every time you see this rise in voltage, that is a digit. The first digit is longer in duration, the second digit is much quicker so be ready to watch. For example, code 13 would be one rise in voltage (1) followed by 3 quicker rises in voltage (3). It then repeats. With a digital meter that is slow, you won't see 0 and 12 volts, but something close to them.

The attached photo shows the sweeps

Thanks for the input and for my other related post. I'll be sure to report my results but when I did it before I got code 13: Int. Air temp. sensor. My friend had an exra maf laying around and I pooped that one in there. Still the same problem, and btw, I had the battery disconnected for awhile so it should've cleared it.
Thanks
