Test pipe?

Is a testpipe like a replacement for a cat?
Does it make the car louder?

A test pipe is just a pipe that replaces the cat.. If you don't have emisions I say go for it..And yes it might make the car a bit louder, but probably not that much.

I have a cat delete, and mine isn't that loud..Turbo cars are not as lound as their N/A counterparts..

I run a highflow cat thats a straight pipe. Not loud at all, Apexi WS2 exhast.

Okay thanks i gott a 3" jvt downpipe and im confused on how to hook it up it has a 3" flange on 1 side with a 4.25 flange on the cat side.

You have to put it up to the stock downpipe or measure it..Then if you find it's longer then the stock one, it could be a cat deleting downpipe..But it appears to need a cat or test pipe bolted up to it..You can also get hi flow cats from summit racing for about 100$..

Now as far as your measurement of 4+ inches..That's the flange it's that large..What you want to measure is the inside diameter of the pipe itself..That will tell you what size cat or catback piping you need from there..

okay i measured the flange

okay i just checked it. i need a 2.5" o2 housing. and a 3" catback exhaust. or test pipe any idea of where to find a cheap o2 housing?

Punishment racing used to sell a mild steel o2 housing for like $150 if I remember correctly. However it's not on their site anymore. Instead they only have the ss housings listed for $200

if no emissions to worry about RUN IT!! youll notice a slight increase in power/noise as well as youll be able to smell some exhaust. well i did with my system anyway

well i dont know what the laws are in wisconsin, but im pretty sure we dont have emission laws do we? does anybody know the diameter of a stock o2 housing is?

not entirely sure but i know the stock evo 3 o2 is 2.5" all the way thru so figure the 2g being a bit smaller and then the 1g being even smaller then that

I just installed me testpipe about a month ago and it really opens my exhaust up it got slightly a little louder but flows much better I say do it if you don't have emmisions

Just cut mine off this past weekend. Unfortunately for me I got a pipe that wa an 1/8 too small for ID. I had to drive back to "The zone" with just the stock downpipe. So loud but felt awesome. Def noticed some gains with the test pipe and barely louder than stock.
