I've owned 3 DSM's since I was 16 years old. My first one was a '92 Eclipse with a 1.8l. It was slow, but I loved it. My second was a '91 Eclipse Gst. It was bone stock,but I thought it was the fastest thing in the world. My next one was a '91 Talon Tsi fwd. It was fast,but was a total piece of shit. It only lasted a month before it spun a bearing. After that I gave up on DSM's. I bought a '94 Trans Am. Well now I am wishing I had a DSM again, because between insurance and gas it's taking all my money. So I found a DSM that I really like, but I'm not really sure about it. It's a '99 GS with a Hahn stage 2 turbo kit, with about 11k on the motor. It has JE pistons and Eagle rods, with an off road pipe, and 2.5 inch catback exhaust. I know the kid who is selling it, and he says it is really fast. He's asking $6,500. The body is in perfect condition, with leather, sunroof, power windows and locks. How good of a car would it be. I want something fast, but cheap on insurance. How fast would it be, and what could I expect to beat. Also would I have any reliability problems?
 
PM a few of the guys with the turbo kits. I believe ive seen a few of them state it wasnt worth it with all the troubles.
 
well, if im not mistaken, the gs's have the weaker motors than the gst, so running a turbo on that engine is not as realiable as a gst.
 
I think that maybe with the Eagle Rods and Pistons It might not be as much troble as you think......you say u know the kid soo take it for a ride and see how you like it....Your always gunna have problems so why not have them with a car you like :thumb: :dsm:

depends on how it was treated previous take it to your mechanic and get it checked out before you buy it.. if im not mistaken when you give the insurance company your vin number it will be insured as a n/t eclipse so it shouldnt be bad on insurance as for what you could expect to beat it depends on your driving skills and whatnot however before you buy it since ur a previous owner of a few dsms check the timing belt and all the usuals
 
1. Under no circumstances consider owning a turbocharged non-turbo engine.

2. Under fewer conditions than "none", do not even think of buying a non-turbo engine that someone else has turbocharged.

Beyond that, you're on your own.

I second that. I used to be in to turbo charging NA cars like civics and integras, but after a few of them, and moving up to my gst, then my gsx, i would never go back. last integra i helped my buddy with, he did b16 engine swap, then drag 3 turbo kit, and we still were not that impressed. so again i second the opinion and say never turbo a na car. but thats just my $.02, i also dont like body kits,.. so to each his own. -jammer :dsm:
