Hey everyone , i personally do not have any opinions about putting teflon tape on flywheel bots. My friend didnt have anything like lock tite or some other stuff usually used on bolts , so he decided to put teflon tape around them. I was wondering what could happen , anything bad or nothing? does it help(i dont believe so) ? Just need your opinions , thanks.

Using teflon thread sealing tape on the flywheel bolts was dumb. It could give inaccurate torque readings, and may also cause them to back out.

Could be extremely bad . If the bolts back out , flywheel comes off at a high rate of speed . Destroys everything it touches . Imagine a circular saw , now picture the blade falling off .

That scares the sh_t out of me just thinking about it. They ^^^ are very right. It will affect the torque reading (please tell me a torque wrench was used...not that it matters now, but at least one is available for you when you redo the bolts.) I used 272 red loctite (high temp) and still am worried about not using the green loctite.

OMG please don't run your car like that...you will pay for it dearly. Some people have lost FW bolts by not using loctite at all and they were getting more accurate torque readings then you. Clean up the bolts and crank holes with a tap and die. Better yet, get new bolts from Mitsu...$12 bucks for the set.

Teflon is a
LUBRICANT.
duh.

Teflon tape is for toilet repairs. It has no use on an automobile, and never on an engine. Permatex has sealing products for such use, both hardening and pliable.
Loc-Tite is for securing threaded fasteners. It's far too available to ever try to continue a job without using it.

Why wont you just go to the closest auto parts store and get some. Im sure its less than $5 bucks, better than spending hundred or maybe thousands of dollars getting the motor rebuilt or replaced again.

VERY bad idea. If at all possible, take the flywheel bolts out and do it right.
