Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about an mhi TE06H-16M turbo? I did some research, and it apparently came off s caterpillar or an Isuzu truck. Basically what I'm wondering is, would this turbo be suitable for DSM use, and if so what would it be capable of? The information in the tag says:

TURBOCHARGER
TYPE: TE06H-16M
SERIAL NO: 030220018
PART NO: ME440895
M.F.D. NO: 49185-01030
MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES LTD.

I can take it apart and get pics, and measure the wheels tomorrow at work if that would help any.
Thanks,
Evan

exhaust housing too large for dsm use. but the turbo is same size as fp red. I bought one cheap off ebay. took lots of pics. used the center section to rebuild an evo x fp red.

you wouldnt happen to have a link to the hosing you used or anything like that would you?? i dont know much about how to match up different housings and stuff.

That's roughly what I measured mine at, and is identical to he one in he link. Does it just take an fp red housing to make it work or what? Is the cold side OK to leave as is?

turbo I am referring to had 55/75mm compressor. 7 blade.
That would be an 18KX3 compressor with those specs...same that is used in the OEM upgrade turbo MHI built for Evo X models:

MHI also now offers an OEM Subaru upgrade with the same wheel...both are mated to a TF06-07 (61/54mm) turbine.

The 16M compressor is still a 7-blade (major) unit, it's just the same size as a 16G wheel at 48/68mm. You can see in this pic of an aftermarket TE06H 16M CHRA that the compressor exducer is almost the same size as the turbine inducer...so it's definitely not 75mm.

So basically the situation I am in,my dad bought he talon from my uncle for me when I was 12ish, long story short I traded the car off a few years ago, it got run down and traded around a bunch, I tracked it down the next state over in an impound lot not running, and I'm in the process of getting it back on the road and in its former glory. The 14b that is on it now is shot, and I got his turbo for free from a buddy, is this thing worth the work to out on the car, or would I just be better off goig s different route. I know a decent amount about these cars, but the turbos kinda confuse me on what work, and how to build one to be suitable for application.

It's not going to work unless you find suitable crack-free 6cm2 or 7cm2 turbine housing (good luck) and get it machined to accept the turbine wheel that comes in it, or buy a TD05H turbine wheel and 7cm2 turbine housing to swap on it then get the assembly rebalanced but you'll still have to figure out some way for the wastegate system to function....and even at that point the compressor specs prove that it won't be much more-potent than any 16G that is available as a direct bolt-on turbo for our cars.

If you're just looking to get the car running, there are new knockoff 16G's on eBay for $170-$180, but you'll have to keep the boost level low if you're on the stock fuel system running one of these turbos. At a low boost level a Chinese 16G may last a long time but if you turn up the wick down the road it's not going to stay in one piece too long.
