As I was removing the 16g turbo off my car at a friends house, I noticed how the stock water feed line which connects the water pipe to the turbo is a pain in the arse in terms of removing the turbo becuase it gets in the way cause its a hard pipe, I them thought it would be so easy if it was a flexible ss line pipe which in turn youd just pop the banjo bolt off the turbo and movie it out of the way with ease. Now I notice slowboy sells alot of ssstuff but no water pipe kit, and I was wonderiing if any of you would know a place that sells a kit like that, if not, what the thread size on the water pipe feed connection is and the thread size on the banjo bolt is? Cause Id have to get it custom made then. THanks :thumb:

I'm curious about the same thing. Although when removing your turbo, you could just take out the manifold, so you pull the turbo setup out rather than dropping it. I don't know if you did it but in case you didn't there it was.

well yeah, but taking off some of those exhaust manifold nuts is a pita too, this would make things so damned easy its just not funny.

ive got an nt waterpipe ,then i got a SS waterline kit running from the hoses on the heater core.. very easy

sorry, the cars in the garagenow, but the kit came from slowboy

I just got an external oil cooler and eliminated the water lines all together. Car seems to like it a lot, and my coolant temps are lower and more consistant.

hmm, well soem of my water lines weve elminated because Ive got the external oil cooler, so you saying just to put a fat washer on the banjo bolt and oil cool it and call it a day?

PS: I ahve an oil cooler on mine too, so some coolant likes weve already elminated, when the oil cooler was first put on the needle would always sit between the "t" & "e" on the temp gage. so I doubt elminating the water lines will lower the temps anymore, any more input appreciated.

well , when your boosting your turbo is hot inturn , hot water returns back to the cooling system hotter then it came in the turbo.

i had to replace my waterline recently , and thought the same thing. an SS one would be perfect. but i had to shove out $20 at mitsu for one.

its easy to remove the turbo by : disconnecting the oil drain from oil pan , disconnect the water return from the turbo , disconnect the watersupply from the temp housing, and the oil line from the head,

thus , some lines pull off with the turbo , but this way its easier to take off and put back on , as i did it 3 times trying to get the waterline right.

I just cut the banjo bolt down with a die grinder/cut off wheel, smoothed down the end, and bolted it into the turbo housing. A few fat washers would do just as well. I spoke to a shop that said you don't even need the bolt in there, as the coolant passage doesn't touch any moving parts, it's just there to remove heat from the turbo. Mostly, it does this by convection once the car is turned off, to keep people who don't time their turbos from killing them. It doesn't really serve much of a purpose if you already have a good oil cooler in the system. Just make sure that you cool down your car after EVERY run for at least a minute. Or, get a turbo timer.

would anyone know where I could get a 14mm banjo bolt adapter? I see slowboy sells 10 & 12mm only for some reason. The water feed pipe has a 14mm banjo bolt holding it down, so Id need a 14mm banjo bolt adapter to bolt up to the ss line, plus anyoen would happen to know the size of the thread of the water pipe connection to the feed pipe? I was checking at work, and from the looks of it , it seems to be a m16 x 1.5, but I am uncertain & would liek a second opinion,

Haha look at this bad boy I got!

Its substantially larger in size than the stock one, the rubber inside is supposed to hold up to 250 degrees.

What chall think?

:talon: :rocks:

So did you ever find out the thread of the 1g water pipe?
Where'd you get the SS water line?

thread size is 16X1.5mm
Can be obtained at summitracing.com

I must say though, if you are using 4 bolts to hold the turbo (instead of 3 bolts and a stud), then that water line doesn't present significant problems. It can be bent down just enough to pull the turbo up and to the pass. side. Waistgate actuator needs to be removed prior to that.
