Hey,

So im brand new to this forum, but am a member of dsmtalk.com! I just got this td04 turbo for 120 bucks, and ive been thinking of bolting it on, the turbo says td04HL, ive read somewere this is a stage 2 for a 3000gt but i have no clue, i need to figure out what goes were on this? sorry if i sound stupid, i i know on the side im gonan put the air intake cone, i am thinking that this black piece will hook up to the throttle body, but were do these 2 oil lines go to? but guessing again that pipe that looks black will hook up to my throttle body right? and one of those oil lines to the head?

Its off a 1g automatic turbo car.

As far as everything else search its already been covered, and you need to learn more cause it sounds like you dont know what you are doing.

perfect, i got a 1g, can you help me with were all the oil lines and all the hoses go?

you will probably need a turbo water pipe. the black pipe is on upside down and would normally point to the passenger side wheel well where the stock side mount is located. as for oil lines one goes to the side of the head and the other is the drain to the oil pan. since yours is non turbo you will want to change that oil pan or punch a hole in it.

don't forget to get a turbo ecu, injectors, fpr, its gonna be lots of work!!!

thanks, i figure it was on wrong, i just bought a 2g intercooler of craigslist for 10 bucks its a sound mount, i figure i would run it through the intercooler and then up into the throttle body, also wats that little black hose on the bottom? of my last picture? it doesnt have any oil stains like the other two do? is it for a manual boost gauge maybe?

thanks

my guess.... water lines, and no your non turbo car doesn't have provisions for those either..............

Not true my friend. There is no turbo ecu for the 1.8 and you can't use the 2.0 ecu for it either.

Do some research, and you'll see that you are gonna need WAY more than what you've got right now. I'm assuming that exhaust manifold is a 4g63 manifold, so that means you're going to need another exhaustmanifold. Why? If you've ever seen the exhaust ports on a 1.8, then you'd know why. And not to be a jerk, but if you're asking questions like 'the black pipe would go to my throttle body, right' then I'm seriously doubting that you know enough about this to turbo your car.

I'd bet you thought, hey, I can turbo my car for like $500! But in reality you'll be spending around $1600 minimum to turbo this car. Just some food for thought.

yea i figured i need another manifold, i was hoping that the top bolts would hook up on this, and if i had to i would just weld it to the block, i am getting an act clutch, and would be beefing up the front end, but i know another manifold that bolts on this block, which is the dodge colt turbo i think

if you look on the tech fourm for the 1.8 there is article on turboing 1.8 if you ask me your wasting your time cheaper and eaiser to buy a turbo car. it def sounds like you havent really worked on cars that much or a turbo system before you start changing stuff make sure you know what you are doing

I don't think its worth it either. sell what you got to make your money back and just drive it.

Yeah. You've got the colt manifold right. But you just said 'weld it to the block.' NOT HAPPENING. I'd suggest selling off what you've got and do more research before even attempting any of this.

Listen to what everyone's telling you bro, you don't have to prove anything to anyone but wasting your money makes you look foolish....

yea, i just found a website with the 1.6 turbo manifold of the colt, im gonna take the manifold on the turbo i have off, and sell it on ebay, i'll prob keep the turbo until i fix a couple of problems on the car then ill decide what to do with it

You wont make a lot more power anyways you will blow up the motor. the pistons in that block can not support more then 8-10lbs of boost MAX and you will always have to run 93 octane for gas if you don't kiss the motor good bye. and no you cant put a turbo motor in the 1.8 car you'd have to change the engine harness and interior harness keep it for a daily driver good for gas and go buy a turbo car

yea i heard that before, i already run mobile 93 because if i don't, it makes a weird noise and doesn't quite perform well, i was thinking of running like 5? i was guessing that it wouldn't be able to handle even 6, as long as i get a 20hp increase, im happy, for know i need to change the starter, hub bearings or whatever, and seal the valve cover gasket and install the new spark plugs and wires

1. The mods are gonna kill you for horrible punctuation.
2. Do some research, the head will crack in between the cylinders long before the pistons die from detonation. And you can run more than 10 lbs, but you'll need to double the head gasket.
3. There are more than a few people that have swapped from a 1.8 to a 2.0 and a few more have even swapped to the 2.0t.

Still, I'm planning on running a larger turbo than the peanut sized 13b so I can stay out of boost and save my gas mileage. Say hello 50 trim =)

There is a link to a turbo faq a few posts above you. Why don't you read it. It'll answer a lot of the questions you have and clear up lots of the misconceptions floating around the thread here.

yea i looked at that before and i read it, i know theres a 12 valve head for this car that would help turbo a lot, i looked through the classifieds here for a new car, but im not gonan spend 10 grand for a 1g turbo eclipse, when i could get a brand new saab 93 turbo awd and finance the thing, i might as well overhaul this car, strip it down, throw in some chevy 350 pistons in it, bore it out to the max, and track it, and it will prob explode one day

Ok. Well I'm sure you could find a good turbo 1g for less than 4k and probably less than 3k if you look hard enough. Don't be upset that you can't just slap a turbo on your 1.8. You were the one that posted the thread, and we're giving you the heads up.
