I recently asked what a TCU looked like and no one responded, so I went on my own and pulled apart the whole console. Well I finally found it. It is a gold box with 3 connectors behind the ECU on the floor. When I pulled it out I opened it up and nothing looked wrong so I sent it to get tested and it came back fixed, it had a couple of bad diodes . so if any of your cars (noobs) gets stuck in 2nd or 3rd it is most likely in limp mode which saves your tranny before any harm can be done.

Be sure to check all fuses and connectors prior to changing unit out. Be sure to match the numbers on the box if you go to a junk yard, most TCU's have to be exactly from the same car. :dsm:

Well when I reinstalled it OMG it made a dramatic difference, the power a 2.0l supposed to have was there . Hopefully this helps out alot of you DSMers in the future that didnt know like me. :thumb:

One more thing, if you are switching to a j-spec trans like me, be sure to switch the speedometer gear from Km => mph and no you dont have to purchase a different computer the one you have will work as long as its the same.
