Hey everyone. Have a 1G issues going on. Car makes a really bad tapping sound up untill 3000RPMs. Thought it was something rubbing on the timming belt cover, so removed that and ran it with and without the harmonic balancer, still made the noise. It sounds like its comming from the bottom of the engine, but as of now im at a loss as to what its doing. If anyone has run into this before please let me know, or if anyone has any suggestions as to what it may be, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it's not lifter tick? Possibly try a different weight oil and see if your noise changes. Otherwise, if you're sure it's coming from the bottom of your motor, you may have to pull the pan and check bearings.

Do not bump your post.

i had the same kind of tapping coming from around the timing belt area. i took it to a mechanic and he said it was the damper pully... hope this helps
