DSM was officially retired on the 95 model year turbo Eclipse and Talons. The plate on the firewall of those vehicles still had DSM imprinted upon them, fast forward to 1996 cars and it was MMC. The "DSM" officially died when the last 1999 turbo Eclipse was created. The rest are just a collaboration such as Isuzu and GM, etc. Stratus and the 3G are NOT DSMs!

a nice smaller new electric turbo picture is due

LOL. Or maybe a fuel recalibrator

I think officially mercades(who owns chrysler) owns 35% of mitsu I know its a good size chunk but not enough to control interest. I was really hoping the 3G Eclipses would be 2G upgrades and be prettier, but they are so butt when compared to a 2G.

I hoped for the same thing, too bad...they made a horrible mistake.

OK, so my 1996 is not a DSM???
DSM was just an agreement between the two to use each others parts and market the cars under each respective make.

Actually I think it's just fine......you contradict yourself.

"DSM was officially retired on the 95 model year turbo Eclipse and Talons."

"The "DSM" officially died when the last 1999 turbo Eclipse was created."

I understand that you say it was retired in 95 and died in 99 but how can you retire something but still use it til it?? If you read what you have typed anything after model year 1995 is not a DSM, but then say the 1999 was the 'death' of DSM??

"The rest are just a collaboration such as Isuzu and GM, etc."
So DSM wasn't a collaboration between the then Chrysler and Mitsu.??

Okay, let me clarify for you. The DSM partnership, as in labeling the car stamps with the DSM moniker, ended with the 95 model year models. The "DSM", notice quotations meaning the DSM as we know it, died in 1999. There is no such thing as a DSM any longer. Sebrings, Stratus, 3G's, etc are NOT DSMs. There, better?

Diamond Star Motors ceased to be after 95. Therefore no car after 95 was made by Diamond Star motors. They were either made by Eagle/Chryco or by Mitsubishi. The parts were still a collaborated but the actual entity known as DSM was gone.

Everything the Diamond Star Motors line was built around died out after 99 therefore the 'DSM Cars' died in 99, even though they were made by Mitsu and Chryco after 95 and not Diamond Star Motors.

The current Eclipse has no relation to the Diamond Star Motors design beyond the name. It has more in common with the Cloud cars. The reason is simple. Chrysler now owns part of Mitsu. When Diamond Star Motors was first put together, Daimler/Chysler didn't own any stock in Mitsu.

Diamond Star Motors was a collaboration between two non-related companies. Today Chrysler owns part of Mitsu. Huge difference.

Look I'm not arguing ok.....really!! All I'm saying is that DSM has just went through different names, all have been a combo. of now DaimlerChrysler and Mitsu. The point is that all our cars where built at the same place as Avengers, and the like; Normal/Bloomington, IL. The 'labels' DSM and MMC are just different incarnations of each other, it is still the same partnership although DaimlerChrysler does now own a percentage of Mitsu.
