Talon starts.. then revs all the way up

Ok well the other day I went to start it, pushed in the throttle and kind of stuck in a little. Now I got it started and its reving all the way up... lots of smoke coming out of engine bay and exhaust, im guessing because motor is flooded. what do I do? any help is much appreciated.. Im trying to get this thing running so I can get it to shop...

Thinking I might need to adjust throttle throttle cable? its not loose at all... But i just dont know what to do because at one point today the pedal felt a little bit more normal and then went back

This sounds like something that happened to me. When I was installing my motor the cruise cable got caught on the motor and stretched the line. When I started the engine, it tried to red line itself because the cruise cable was pulling on the throttle cable so hard. I just removed the cruise cable from my assembly to fix the problem.

Unhook your throttle cable from the throttle body and see if it still tries to rev at startup. If it doesn't, check the cables.

I think we've all had this happen. Just unhook the Throttle cable, as stated above, and see what happens.

Thanks for responses. Fixed the problem... just had to play with cable ontop of pedal abit to get it back in and its all good now... except car trys to stall out now but going to adjust throttle cable tomorrow because its pretty loose now.
