Talon Spoiler on a laser.

How hard is it to change the Spoiler on my Laser to a Talon rear spoiler? I think a black painted Talon spoiler would really set the Laser off.

It's not hard. There's two screws on the inside pieces when you pop the hatch, then the brackets that hold it on to the body. The side pieces are held on by molding tape and plastic attachment rivets like a door panel.

So do I have to cut the sheet metal on my Laser?

When I had a 1st gen I installeded a talon spoiler on my eclipse turbo. It's side pieces flow better with the body lines. I only used that good 3m double sided adhesive moulding tape for the sides. No problems

Do you have any pictures? Is the trunk portion a bolt on/rail type instal like my stock one is?

If I have to cut the car, I will not. But if it's a direct bolt on then I'll do the mod.

I like the 3M double sided tape idea.

I'm not going to hack this car up. If I have to cut anything I will not do it. I'm going to keep the stock parts so I'll be able to bring it back to stock.

You guys forget this is my daily. It may have 22K miles but it's still only worth around 3.5-4K. I've told many members that I'll let it go for 6K but no one wants to put up the cash.

A clean spoiler and a nice set of rims is all I'm doing to this car. So you guys don't have to worry.

Sorry I don't have pictures MysticMarine but if your laser had a spoiler like my eclipse did, it's got the nessesary holes on the hatch

So the hatch part is direct fit and the side wings bolt into the side panels but double sided tape works with cutting into the metal?

?? No.... double sided tape only for the sides. Just scuff up a little under the side wing location, then wipe it down with alcohol (body panel and underside of side wing) so it'll adhere good.

Are you referring to the 1ga Talon spoiler ( 5pc) or the 1gb spoiler (3pc). I Put the 5 pc. 1gb talon spoiler on my Eclipse. the door pieces and front of the quarter trim just use the gray 3m double sided tape. Works great. Actually post a pic of your car before I go to much further. You may have to drill holes in your car to mount the hatch and rear of the quarter pieces. Which if you car is a low mileage car you may not want to poke holes in it. I also have a 5 pc. painted and ready to go on the GSX. I think the 5 pc spoilers just make the look of the cars even better.

Found a dealer add on spoiler that came on Lasers. No holes, just double sides tape.

Now, I was thinking about painting the spoiler the color of my ground effects OR should I just leave it teal?

That's a matter of opinion. How do you think it looks better? I prefer the talon 3 piece..just my opinion.

Talon 5 piece is the best one for a 1g. And its his car, 22k miles but its also 18 years old. Do what you want.
