So i finally picked up a talon gb wing at the shootout. Now I took the old one off and filled the holes. Now does anyone have measurements or specs on where exactly to place the new wing? I want it to be in the same location. I don't want to eyeball it. Any help or pics would be helpful.

Yes I can help you with that, but because you did not buy my wing that I have had for sale for months I'm not going to give you the dimensions.

Ok fine I guess I'll help you out.

Let me measure tonight, I'm in the process of doing the same thing to a 2GA hatch. I have a 2GB hatch that has very bad rot but will serve as a good guide to hole alignment.

There does look like there holes that a marked with a silver sticker over them on my gst hatch. Can someone verify if that is correct? Now the tail light hole looks like it could be marked but no stickers on the holes.

What are the odds of the 98 talons having the marks for the door pieces.

Here is a picture of the left side of the inner hatch. (Back of hatch is facing up in the pic)

This is going to be the most tricky because you need to drill a one inch hole on the outside to fit the lug on the spoiler. Then a 8mm screw holds it in place.

You can see the hatch here is molded specially for the spoiler. Your silver tape is in the correct area but you will have to drill on an angle.

For the rear of the hatch, you will need 3 holes. One for the wire which is the large oval shape hole in the center of your second pic. The stock plug if you have it is one inch.

The hole to the right of the oval is the screw hole. Drill that to center.

The hole to the left of the oval on top of the pic is the dowel locator. If you use that drill center of that hole

What I am going to do and suggest the same for you, is to drill the rear holes first and mount the spoiler loosely. ( you will need the dowel for this do don't clip it yet).

Then mark where the left and right side bolts fell into place. Drill a pilot hole and then look on the inside where the bolts will lign up.

Last drill the one inch hole for the locating lugs on left/right sides. You will most likely just need to use longer screws here because the hatch is not molded correctly.

Here is the pic. So you can see the hole for the wire plug does not have to be perfect inside that oval shape because the spoiler will cover it. The hole to the right if you look straight at the hole is centered. It looks offset here because of the curve of the hatch. The hole for the dowel is hidden, you should mark that on the outside before drilling.

In this pic, you can see the distance from the large center hole. So you could also find the center of the hatch and mark 1 1/8 over to the left side for this hole and it would be 9.5 inches from the end of the spoiler (both center of the hole dimensions.)

Last but not least, this is the odd shaped hole I was telling you about on the sides of the hatch for the lugs on the spoiler. You will need to drill this relative to the surface of the outside of the hatch. Then you will need to drill the mounting bolt hole on an angle.

After doing this on my Talon 2GA hatch I have some really good info for everyone. First, the Talon 2GB hatch is very specifically designed to mount the 3 point spoiler. So any other hatch will need to be customized to fit.

Second the one inch lugs I mentioned are not nice one inch diameter. It's tapered with a flat side and I could not get it to slip in nicely to a 1.25 diameter hole.

I recommend 2 things in addition to my previous posts.

1. Cut the lugs off the spoiler flush. Drill and tap new holes relative to the surface.

2. Use 1.5 long studs mounted in the spoiler instead of the bolts. It's a lot easier to mount than trying to lign up 5 holes and bolting from underneath the hatch.

3. Use silicone to seal and or weather strip tape to prevent leaking. The bolts will merely hold the spoiler on not seal it.
