One of the most important steps is make sure to do the timing correct because of these being interference motors you can easily wipe the head out.

Why are you taking it apart in the first place?

^LABELS. I personally put the bolts in ziplock baggies and write on them with permanent marker. Also I take pictures of everything, bolts, sensors, wires, how they are routed....etc.

Look into getting a haynes/chiltons manual, they help a great deal.

I don't know any reasons why the valves would bend for no reason unless your timing jumped and why do you suspect bent valves?

Do you have any sorta backfire or is it running god awful?

I used labels and sandwich baggies for all the nuts/bolts/washers. Mark your electrical connections as certain plugs will fit different things. Don't re-use anything like gaskets, timing belt components, and seals. Last get yourself a manual so you know the proper torque specs on the various parts you are re-installing. No need to rush, take your time.

Tearing it down is the easy part. The hard part is staying organized, making sure you have the money, time, space, and patience to replace and fix everything you need to. It sucks staring at a unfinished head for months on end because your waiting on parts or don't have to cash to get them yet. Always try to gather everything you need to finish the project first. Or if you are like me you'll tear it apart let it sit there for months then sell it dirt cheap to get it out of the way :D

Tag it and bag it. Take pics. And if you haven't already download/buy a FSM. Good luck.

It runs like i lost compresion in one cylinder and i can hear the clinking from around the cylinder head

Hey what I did this last rebuild was take apart the engine and stack each new taken apart component on the last part. I had two big heavy duty tables but I'd imagine you could use the floor but cover it with a tarp or something, to avoid dust, dirt, and grime. Sorry I never got into the baggies system but what I did was put the bolts / nuts / fasteners back where I unscrewed them from. However, you definatly need to take pictures and any questions you should resort to the tuners! Good luck it's fun rebuilding!

Usually a bent valves will cause backfire and run just awful. I would perform a leak down test and compression test and go from there.

i take a ton of pics and put bolts/nuts/washers in exactly where i took them out of, or if i cant do that, i label sandwhich baggies and lay them out nice and pretty LOL. my system will be tested soon, lets see if it goes back together as smooth as it came apart

watched video and i hear rod knock personally. it sounds pretty obvious

That is definately a rod knock.

Drain your oil and inspect it for metal flakes or glittery substance. If you see either, pull the oil pan and inspect further.

100% rebuild. dont worry about a 6bolt. just use forged internals and hope your machinist knows whats up.

You should search on that if you got the money, instead of take opinions of a couple people here. No offense to anyone but make an educated descision for yourself.
