1G Take the honeycombs out on the MAF?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

If you are running a 1g you can remove the air silencer (the paper filter located behind the MAS) you may also remove the smaller of the two honeycombs in the MAS -------DO NOT------- remove the larger one. This will allow 2-3 psi more boost before hitting fuel cut.

If you are running a 2g ----DO NOT---- remove ANY of the honeycombs - the car will run like complete S#@t without them.

You should be able to find more about this in the faq!!!!

yea i put the honey combs back in had to re shape them the sixe and made sure no lose parts go suckin in the my turbo eeek wouldnt b good ill check them more and put some like rtv on them to hold them still cause havein to repair a 600 turbo proably wouldnt b good:notgood:

What are you speaking?

Galant VR4s don't even come w/ the lower honeycomb. If you're car has no boost leaks and you have done regular maintainance then you're ok to lose the lower one. No mod should be done w/out a logger.

Losing the lower honeycomb pushes back the onset of fuel cut and the onset of maf overrun. Neither is good and promotes an HIGHLY lean condition in the engine. This mod is done as a cost effective alternative to purchasing another maf and maf controller that will not overrun. Simply upgrading fuel injectors and providing a fuel controller will stifle fuel cut. However, any such fuel controller will grant you the ability to run a maf that does not overrun (the 2G maf).

Again, this is a good free mod to do if you're on a budget AND your engine is in good maintained tune.
