take off everything!!!

hey im pullin my motor, its goin to be a show/ race car, so i want the engin bay to be as clean as possible and i want as little on the motor, for example i want all vac hoses gone that are not needed, what can i take out and what do i block off? i want nothing under the hood that is not needed to make the car run

Well two things.1)think about a different title for your pots, not too many will look at it with that title. 2)just do what the other 2 guys said start it up and start pulling things off till it stalls out , but i would make sure you know what you are pulling...If its going to be a show car and race car they will probably conflict with eash other, like braking stuff on the show car while at the track.

You can ditch the Egr and the evap stuff then move battery to the trunk and get rid of the power steering and the AC that will clean it up alot. Good luck. PS link some picts when your done.

So I was thinking about your post and well, I thought about some stuff you could take off/replace but not all is in engine bay and ill be adding links to this so it will all be consolidadted for you. Ok, do a BS removal kit about 42$ less rotating mass so like 10Hp gain,well maybe not that much HP gain, but it does help with weight, and suposable better oil pressure and does give a few extra HP but ride is a little rougher, but you get use to in in like 5minutes. Remove the the whole a/c set up free if you do it yourself, less weight like 35lbs or so, take off the front and rear bumpers the thread directly below this is for a 1G talon bumper and removal, they very similar if not the same http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188486

Replace the stock eci multi with a nice light magnus spl race intake manifold, take heat sheild off the top of exhaust manifold, a tubualar exhaust mani for when its just on the track or a lighter cast on for on the street.You could also remove rear wiper, wiper motor, and fluids and fluid containers http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185492 I think that it is being done on a 90 talon...well I know its a 1G atleast .I would also replace all of the stock ugly old cracked hoses with ss braided hose(radiator hose) or nice new silicon hoses. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99973 that thread may help you with the bumper removal if you cant figure it out with the 1G thread. Also replace the old stock radiator with a nice new aluminum radiator, loss a few more LBS. And follow these steps for your air intake, yes I know it is for a 1G but the process is similar and you can figure it out with these instructions and steps.
If I think of anything else I will post it, and G'Luck with your car man, oh yeah and get rid of that big stock air box and go with a hard dejon 3" pipe or something to that effect. Hope I could be of some assistance.

get a msd ignition and remove all ignition related(duh)
get an inline fuel filter and well get rid of the filter
get rid of all cruise control related
ps out
a/c out
battery to the trunk
as mentioned above all fluids plastic containers

After you have removed all the stuff that you can I would recommend that you consider relocating as much stuff as you can. A lot of the vacum lines can be hidden, and a lot of electrical stuff can be put up under the dash behind the firewall if you put enough time and effort into it. I've seen pictures of these things where It looked like there were no other parts in there besides the engine and tranny. Good luck, sounds like fun!

The only thing removing abs affects is you get more braking power. The service manual says the output on the non abs proportioning valve I believe around 30psi more. You will be able to lock up your brakes too BTW

EDIT: I believe the big black thing under the battering is the charcoal canister. I havent had one in over 4 years and have passed all of Ohio's emission test. Its simply there for emissions.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it but another thing you can do to get rid of some wires is do a Coil Over plug setup... I heard someone saying Slow boy sells a C.O.P. kit, looks very clean installed.
