ok, heres the back bone of my car. pace setter header with stock t25, 3" dp with 3" catback w/o cat. all hard piping and stock fuel. the question is... i see a t3/t4 turbo kit on ebay for like 800 dollars and it comes with an intercooler and all the piping plus header and ext. waste gate. I was thinking that route or go with a big 16g with front mount. what do you guys recomend? i need answers fast. pros and cons of each and by the way, i only am setting my goals for tops 400 horses. thankx

So you're getting a turbo, exhaust manifold (We don't really call them headers..), intercooler AND piping...all for $800? I'm willing to bet it's all made out of aluminum foil...

If you're only planning on topping out at around 400 hp, the 16G will be just fine for you. Go bigger if you think you might want to go more than 400 HP though. Of course you're going to need the proper supporting mods..fuel, tuning, etc.

Stay far away from the XS-Power or SS Autochrome kits. Do you really think the quality is there on a kit that costs $800 dollars and includes a turbo, manifold, intercooler, wastegate, piping, and install hardware? There are deals to be had on ebay and these aerent one of them.

The people that sell on these kits prey on poor people that dont know any better. They have obviously been making some money from it because these kits are always on there in one form or another. They consist of cheap knockoff parts that have horror stories following them all around the internet.

Stick with what has proven reliability as well as performance.

400 horsepower on pump gas or race gas? You are going to need additional supporting mods to reach your goals. What is your budget? Are you going to do all the work on your car? We need more informationto help you get the answers you need.

I plan on using an AFC and probably put in 550 injectors for now. i plan on tuning with a wide band o2. i will be buying a turbo on the 1st and i want to do fmic at the same time. i have been thinking about it for a while now and i think i will just go the rout of the 16g. i am just worried about my pacesetter tubular manifold. i have had it for 2 years and no cracks yet. only time will tell.

Well, some people have had their pacesetters for a long time with no problems. I am not very familiar with them though. I wouldnt worry till its cracked.

I would go with a larger injector. 550s can have the IDCs maxed out pretty quickly with an E16G. Its a better idea to go with 650-680s although I would run any bigger with just an AFC because of its lack of controlling abilities associated with larger units. It is always good to have a little more room to work with than having to buy bigger ones down the road.

What kind of budget are running on here? Alot of people that run just an AFC w/out a chip and no logger end up going, or wishing they did, the DSM-Link route. Of course the wideband is a very good idea, but its good to see other engine parameters to help you tune more efficiently.

What are you speed goals? You say 400hp which is hard to attain on a 16G without alot of supporting mods. The ever soo popular route as of late is the mitsu flanged T04E 50trim units but there are a few more options.

ok, i finnaly decided what rout i am going to go. eb 16g, 660 injectors, wide band, safc, egt. i have heard to tune with a logger but i have a friend that tuned his 3ktt with the same stuff and he said it came out great, so i am going to do the same. besides, i have read too many write ups that say tune with wide band and egt. i have a nice understanding of the safc and have many friends that have already tuned with one that i have no doubt that we can get it tuned.
