ok as you know i have been having overboosting problems. Well i think it has taken its toll on my little t25 ,. It has started to have the whine/howl just driving at 10 vac sounds almost like a supercharger still boost fine but i also throw smoke at ilde if you rev up quick then it blows a puff of thick smoke. Is this my seals going out seems like the signs of the seals . I have check for shaft play none outta spec so i am leaning on seals any thoughts . If it is seals anyone know of any good seals/ or stock turbo for a decent price

ps i have seem to have sovled the high boost and spiking but i am running 15 psi seems a little more then stock

Check for shaft play up and down and in an out and well if the turbo is dead the try the classifieds here!!! or upgrade to a small but better turbo like the 14b...
And about the overboosting since you are going to change the turbo that should eliminate this issue unless you have a manual boost controller and you dont know how to use it the just take it out and let the stock actuator do his job

any thoughts
Sure- you overboosted a 15-year-old turbo and the thrust plate took a shit, so the noise you're hearing is likely the compressor wheel rubbing the housing as a result. Pushing oil past the sealing rings doesn't result in noise from the turbo.

I built an actuator that we used on a friend's T25 to spike to around 22psi and hold 17 or so to redline and his turbo developed some ridiculous in/out play in about 1000 miles. They're not designed for such abuse.

well the werid thing is i am running all stock lines repalce boost seliond and use the whole lines and tee from the car as well . So i am not to sure as to what it is as to the overboost its kinda did it since my buddy bought it then threw a 16g on it didnt boost rite he bought a awd and he sold the tsi to me i went back to stock so i can say this poor turbo has seen a lot of abuse 20+ psi for a very long time.As to the 14b how hard is that swap to do i have a jipe etc any ideas as to what else i would need and a 14b laying around . I will check the ads maybe i can find one of somethingLOL

well i have change the seilond with my 96 tsi fwd and used the lines with it maybe that one is seized as wellWTF. As to the not enough back perssure i have a apexi 2.5 to 3.0 down pipe to a 3.0 inch apexi catback so its all apexi ?

IMO forget the stock boost solenoid just use the actuator or use a MBC properly.... as for an upgrade to a 14b assuming you have the stock injectors and intercooler you need a jpipe and the oil lines thats it pretty much the rest is bolt on... many theats in this forum about this search.

Just run a line from the turbo boost point, to the WG and see what kind of boost numbers this shows. Then you can do some more testing.
